Keep your feet firmly planted in your faith and your eyes raised to the
heavens.
Lord, You are my strength, my encouragement and my source of all that is
good.

Scripture for the day:

"Whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me, and whoever
welcomes me welcomes not me but the one who sent me." ~Mark 9:37

Meditation for the day:

I can strive for a friendliness and helpfulness that can affect all who come
near me. I can try to see something to love in them. I can welcome them,
bestow little courtesies and understandings on them, and help them if they
ask for help. I need not send anybody away without a word of cheer, a
feeling that I really care about them. God may have put the impulse in some
despairing one's mind to come to me. I need not fail God by repulsing that
person. They may not want to communicate with me unless they are sure of a
warm welcome.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may warmly welcome all who come to me for help. I pray that I
may make them feel that I really care.

Hello my friends! Today was a blessing when we took our Sammy back to the
vet for another X-ray and cancer was ruled out - looks like he's suffering
from a torn ligament and that needs time to heal. He needs no more meds,
just finishing up his steroids. He was such a good boy there through all
the X-Rays and when the Dr. examined his leg, took his temp, no fever!
Linus had the day off but got called back to work when we got home from the
Vet. Another good blessing today was a good nap - I don't know why I'm so
tired today! I'm enjoying the fact I can post whenever I want now and read
more on the board that I couldn't before. Praying for all your needs, and
thanks much for your prayers for us.

To Whom It May Concern:

I heard you were considering a new manager in your life. I would like to
apply for the job. I believe I am the qualified candidate. I created the
heavens and the earth. I AM. I am the only one that has ever done this job
successfully. I was the first manager of human beings. In fact, I made them.
So, naturally, I know how humanity works, and what is best to get people
back into proper working condition. It will be like having the manufacturer
as your personal mechanic. If this is your first time considering Me, I
would like to point out that the blood of My Son, Jesus, on the cross of
Calvary has already paid my salary. What I need from you is the
acknowledgment that the price is sufficient to pay for all of your sins and
your independence from Me. I need you to believe this in your heart and to
tell somebody else about your decision with your mouth. The next thing I ask
is the right to change and fix your life, so you can learn how to stay close
to Me. I will make some major changes and revisions. They are not for you to
worry about.

I need your permission to execute these changes:
* My way and in My time.
* I will change your desires and give you the strength to make the changes.
* Please keep YOUR hands out of the way. I won't require assistance.

Don't try to help me and don't resist me. I really do need your full
commitment and cooperation. If you give me those, the process can go
smoothly, without delays.

My resume is included below.

Sincerely Yours,
~God~

SELFLESS DEDICATION

Author Unknown

In a small town in America, there was a Doctor Brackett. He was known as the
poor man's friend because he spent hours at the bedside of unfortunates and
never ever took a fee from them. He lived in two upstairs rooms over a
grocery store. At the foot of the stairs going to his quarters was a painted
sign which said: DOC BRACKETT - OFFICE
UPSTAIRS.

He even lost his girlfriend, whom he wanted to marry, because, he spent more
time with the sick than with her. He spent a life of selfless dedication to
any and every person around him. When he died, his funeral was the biggest
ever seen in that town.

At a meeting afterwards, the townspeople tried to figure out what kind of
monument to erect to the memory of the doctor. A couple who had been
especially helped by the doctor, on their way home from the meeting, removed
the sign from his door and the following day it appeared over his grave.

It read: DOC BRACKETT - OFFICE UPSTAIRS.

Reach Up

"Ye, though I walk through the valley of shadow of death, I will fear no
evil."

The journey each of us walks is not always a meadow full of flowers.
Sometimes it is a journey up a mountain, loose rocks and steep inclines.

We so often loose sight of the beautiful scenery because of our attempts to
hold on. We have to struggle with many things in this world that makes us
feel alone.

Arthritis grips us tight and wrenches pain from within. Diabetes cuts our
feelings ulcerates our skin. Cancer files away at the cells of our body and
leaves us weak. Blindness takes away our vision and paints our world black.
Mental disabilities hold our thoughts and leave us in a lonely room. Cruelty
of others cuts our hearts and leaves us empty.

We were born to celebrate, to reach up and believe. We were born to rejoice,
to lift our hands to life. We were born to sing, to paint rainbows with our
voice. We were born to love, to hold the hands of gentleness. We were born
to share, to be a blessing to those around us.

Reach up, my friend and believe for that is God's dream. Lift your hands, my
friend and live for that is God's purpose. Paint your world, my friend with
songs for that is God's compassion. Hold on, my friend with gentleness for
that is God's love. Bless those around you, my friend for you are God's
gift.

No less than a flower planted by angels and nurtured by the hands of God.

November 2nd - All Souls Day

Merciful Father,
hear our prayer and console us.
As we renew our faith in Your Son,
whom You raised from the dead,
strengthen our hope that all our departed brothers and sisters
will share in His resurrection,
who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen

Eternal Rest grant unto them, O Lord,
and let perpetual light shine upon them.
May they rest in peace.

- - -
2 Maccabees 12:44 - If he had not believed that the dead would be raised, it
would have been foolish and useless to pray for them.
