God wants us happy right now and continually points us in that direction
even when we look the other way. Lord, grant that nothing will turn me
away from doing Your will.
Scripture for the day:
"You show me the path of life. In your presence there is fullness of
joy; in your right hand are pleasures forevermore." ~Psalm 16:11
Meditation for the day:
We can hold our lives in trust for God. We can think deeply on what
that means. Nothing is too much to expect from such a life. We can
begin to see how dedicated a life in trust for God can be. In such a
life miracles can happen. When we are faithful, we find that God has
many good things in store for us. God can be the Lord of our lives,
controller of our days, of our present and our future. We can try to
act as God guides and leave all results to God. We need not hold
back, but can go all out for God and the better life God promises. We
can make good our trust.
Prayer for the day:
I pray that I may hold my life in trust for God. I pray that I may no
longer consider my life as all my own.
Hello my friends! Nice day here today - for a Fall day! It was too cool
this morning for Linus to stain the windows for the patio, but as it warmed
up later he got a lot done and on the patio. Maybe he'll be able to finish
tomorrow morning yet. In the afternoon we have to go for an hour's drive to
one of his brother's place, for a sibling get-together, they make wines, so
we'll have wine tasting, and they have lots of chokecherries, so they make
chokecherry wines, and desserts with them. This event they call it the
annual chokecherry Festival! We need to get back early enough for a Saturday
evening Mass because tomorrow Linus and Lori are going to a Twin's baseball
game - taking a train to get there - so they leave early in the morning.
It's a Father's Day gift from her. They'll enjoy the day together. It was
great blessing tonight when Lori called and said to meet her at Buffalo
Wings for supper - we always like going there to taste all the different
kinds of chicken wings, very tasty. We always let her do the ordering for
us all - and we had a nice time and after that she came over and entered a
bunch of Wedding Pictures in my computer on Facebook so I have more now.
Praying for all of you for your needs and thanks so much for all your
prayers for us. Greatly appreciate all prayers.

I am the Light and you do not see me
I am the Way and you do not follow me
I'm the Truth and you do not believe me
I am the Life and you do not live me
I am the Teacher and you do not listen to me
I am the Leader and you do not obey me
I am the Lord, and you do not call me
I am the Friend and you do not love me
If you are unhappy do not blame me
TURN YOUR SECURITY SYSTEM ON!
Author Unknown
A horrible thing happened to me today.....a thief broke into my house. It
happened shortly after I awoke this morning. I got up and began rushing
about. I had a thousand things on my list and was already running behind.
Quickly, I gulped down breakfast, took a shower and got ready for work.
In my rush, I forgot to turn the security system on at my house. It was just
about a half an hour later that the thief broke in. Of course, he didn't
make a sound. Just kind of snuck inside, not drawing any attention to
himself. In fact, none of the neighbors ever saw him.
But, I did.
You see, I WAS HOME when the thief broke in.
He naturally startled me, as I was unprepared for his visit. He, of course,
didn't announce that he was coming and I certainly had not invited him over.
And yet, I found myself face to face with danger and I felt so powerless. I
also felt so very stupid, because this whole incident could have been
avoided if I had just taken the time to turn the security system on.
You better believe I'll be turning it on tomorrow morning! I thought I'd
warn you about this guy, because he's still on the loose. Chances are, he's
in your area. Possibly even headed for your house.
His name? His name is Satan. You see, this morning when I jumped up in my
haste to get started on my busy day, I skipped my prayer time - opting to
"pray later today." In other words, I DIDN'T TURN ON THE SECURITY SYSTEM. My
defense wasn't on, my guard was dropped ..... and when the thief came into
my home to attack me, I was unprepared to do battle. He tempted me and I
felt powerless. Like I said, I also felt so very stupid, because I could
have avoided the incident if I had just taken the time to pray.
My friend, the thief has come to "steal, kill and destroy." And, as a Child
of God, you are on his "hit list." He'll probably pop over to your house
today. He may be lurking outside your door right now, just waiting to catch
you off guard.
Take time to pray this morning. Ask God to bind Satan from your very
presence, to protect you and empower you to do battle. In short ..... don't
forget to turn your security system on.
Four things you can't recover:
The stone..........after the throw.
The word.........after it's said..
The occasion........after it's missed.
The time.........after it's gone.
DOES GOD STILL SPEAK TO HIS PEOPLE?
Author Unknown
A young man had been to Wednesday night Bible Study. The Pastor had
shared about listening to God and obeying the Lord's voice.
The young man couldn't help but wonder, "Does God still speak to His
people?"
After service, he went out with some friends for coffee and pie and
they discussed the message. Several different ones talked about how
God had led them in different ways.
It was about ten o'clock when the young man started driving home.
Sitting in his car, he just began to pray, "God.. If you still speak
to people, speak to me. I will listen. I will do my best to obey."
As he drove down the main street of his town, he had the strangest
thought, stop and buy a gallon of milk. He shook his head and said out
loud, "God is that you?" He didn't get a reply and started on toward
home. But again,
the thought, buy a gallon of milk. The young man thought about Samuel
and how he didn't recognize the voice of God, and how little Samuel
ran to Eli.
"Okay, God, in case that is you, I will buy the milk." It didn't seem
like too hard a test of obedience. He could always use the milk.
He stopped and purchased the gallon of milk and started off toward
home. As he passed Seventh Street, he again felt the urge, "Turn down
that street."
This is crazy he thought and drove on pass the intersection. Again, he
felt that he should turn down Seventh Street. At the next
intersection, he turned back and headed down Seventh. Half jokingly,
he said out loud, "Okay, God, remember I....He drove several blocks,
when suddenly, he felt like he should stop. He pulled over to the curb
and looked around. He was in a semi-commercial area of town. It wasn't
the best but it wasn't the worst of neighborhoods either.
The businesses were closed and most of the houses looked dark like the
people were already in bed.
Again, he sensed something, "Go and give the milk to the people in the
house across the street." The young man looked at the house. It was
dark and it looked like the people were either gone or they were
already asleep. He started to open the door and then sat back in the
car seat.
"Lord, this is insane. Those people are asleep and if I wake them up,
they are going to be mad and I will look stupid." Again, he felt like
he should go and give the milk. Finally, he opened the door, "Okay
God, if this is
you, I will go to the door and I will give them the milk. If you want
me to look like a crazy person, okay. I want to be obedient. I guess
that will count for something but if they don't answer right away, I
am out of here." He walked across the street and rang the bell. He
could hear some noise inside. A man's voice yelled out, "Who is it?
What do you want?" Then the door opened before the young man could get
away. The man was standing there in his jeans and T-shirt. He looked
like he just got out of bed. He had a strange look on his face and he
didn't seem to happy to have some stranger standing on his doorstep.
"What is it?" The young man thrust out the gallon of milk, "Here, I
brought this to you." The man took the milk and rushed down a hall way
speaking loudly in Spanish. Then from down the hall came a woman
carrying the milk toward the kitchen. The man was following her
holding a baby. The baby was crying. The man had tears streaming down
his face. The man began speaking, speaking and half crying, "We were
just praying. We had some big bills this month and we ran out of
money. We didn't have any milk for our baby. I was just praying and
asking God to show me how to get some milk."
His wife in the kitchen yelled out, "I asked him to send an Angel with
some. Are you an Angel?" The young man reached into his wallet and
pulled out all the money he had on him and put in the man's hand. He
turned and walked back towards his car and the tears were streaming
down his face.
He knew that God still answers prayers and that God still speaks to
His people.
Cross in My Pocket
I carry a cross in my pocket
A simple reminder to me
Of the fact that I am a Christian
No matter where I may be.
This little cross is not magic
Nor is it a good luck charm.
It isn't meant to protect me.
From every physical harm.
It's not for identification
For all the world to see.
It's simply an understanding
Between my Savior and me.
When I put my hand in my pocket
To bring out a coin or key.
The cross is there to remind me
Of the price he paid for me.
It reminds me, too, to be thankful
For my blessings day by day
And strive to serve him better
In all that I do and say.
It's also a daily reminder
Of the peace and comfort I share
With all who know my master
And give themselves to his care.
So, I carry a cross in my pocket
Reminding no one but me
That Jesus Christ is Lord of my life
If only I'll let him be.
Give your problems to God
A little girl had a broken doll and prayed to God, "Please God, fix my
doll." She waited and saw that her doll wasn't fixed.
The following night the little girl prayed again, "Please God, fix my doll."
Still nothing happened.
Again, the following night the little girl prayed "God, please can you fix
my doll?" and still to no avail.
The girl got very upset and asked God, "God, why haven't you fixed my doll?"
God replied "My daughter, how can I fix it if you haven't given it to me?"
So the point of this story is that we must not hold on to our problems,
troubles, worries and pain, we must let go of them all once we have given it
to God and God will deal with it in God's time and way.
Prayer before a Crucifix
Behold, O Kind and most sweet Jesus, before Thy face I humbly kneel, and
with the most fervent desire of soul, I pray and beseech Thee to impress
upon my heart lively sentiments of faith, hope and charity, true contrition
for my sins and a firm purpose of amendment. With deep affection and grief
of soul, I ponder within myself, mentally contemplating Thy five wounds,
having before my eyes the words which David the Prophet spoke concerning
Thee: "They have pierced my hands and my feet, they have numbered all my
bones."
