due to possible listeria contamination.  Below is a link to an article that includes the possible varieties affected.

Sargento Cheese Recall

ETA - I know of the Indiana supplier and have been to their factory store.  They are good, honest people and I'm sure they will do everything to completely clean and sanitize everything before resuming production.  Accidents happen but I still have confidence in their products.  In fact, I'm going to be up there next weekend and will probably stop in for a purchase.

Thank you! I eat Sargento cheese all the time. Luckily, none of those flavors listed.

Wow!  Thanks for posting this.  I actually had a new bag of the Sargento shredded Colby Jack that I tossed out last week.  When I opened it, it smelled horrible and I was afraid to use it.  It was a really strong, weird smell.  Good thing I tossed it!

OMG, we just ate that brand cheese in our chili tonight.  Thank goodness the cheese we ate isn't on the list.  Many thanks for posting this.

The kind I eat is on there, the fancy shredded cheddar jack, but I checked both bags we have, one almost empty and one unopened and the dates aren't the ones on the recall.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?
