Former hostess on DWTS, Samantha Harris , 40 is going to have a double mastectomy to treat her breast cancer diagnosis. She has 2 small daughters and wants to choose the best treatment for the best outcome. Wishing her the best of luck.

Our paper this morning said she went to one doctor who said she was alright, but her instincts (my word) told her to go to another where she was diagnosed. It is almost an epidemic, but I know it is because people are getting more educated about BC, and celebrities are helping to do it. I wish her the very best. ${#emotions_dlg.wub}$

I heard about this yesterday. She had her first mammogram in October.

I wish her the best. I'm just curious if anyone knows, is it usual these days to take both breasts as a precaution? I'm thinking the cancer was just one the one side, perhaps I read wrong. My sister had a single mastectomy 30 years ago and did have a recurrence but it was in the same side as the first. They treated the second bout with radiation and thankfully she has been well since. The remaining breast has been fine. Just wondering.
