I went to a website and looked at an expensive beauty tool (Lyma), and received an email from Lyma @ SafeOpt dot com.  It went straight to my junk folder, but I look there before deleting.  Not sure how they got my email address since I don't remember giving it to them, but I can't read the email itself unless I click on something, which I am not inclined to do without some information.

If anyone has any experience with SafeOpt or know what it is, I would love to hear about your experience.

I have been browsing with chrome because I am having problems with safari.  Chrome does not appear to be as protective as safari.  The email did not go to my gmail account, which I never use.  The whole thing is a mystery to me.

I would love if anyone can shed light on this.  Thanks!

If you ever shopped with any of the thousands of companies that belong to Safeopt, they have your email address.  I believe Safeopt also collects email addresses from public social media sites.  You didn't give it to them.  I think you can opt out of emails from them but I'm pretty sure you have click on the link to see how you do that.

Thanks @chrystaltree. Never heard of SafeOpt.  So it was probably a cookie that gave me up.

What companies belong to Safeopt?

I only found out about it a month or two ago.  Was out with friends and the subject came up.  I'd never heard of it.  I don't know but my guess is if you click on the link, there will details including their website.

@mspatmac@chrystaltree

Thanks for your advice.  I don't feel comfortable googling something that was stalking me, let alone clicking on a related link that could download more tracking tools and viruses to my computer.  So I thought I would ask forum posters if anyone had any experience with SafeOpt.

Please don't take offense that I ask about other people's experiences.  I think that is one of the things we can use the forum for.  I do that all the time, as do others.  When I have an experience or information I can share, I do.

If you have any relevant information, it would be nice if you could share.

Thanks!
