SafariLive - Anyone here watch?

A number of guides and camera operators have recently been let go. One popular guide, Sydney Mikosi fell into a depression because of the situation. It’s all very sad.

I saw bits and pieces from Twitter and Facebook, but I don’t belong to either, so can’t see the full story. If anyone has read the full explanation, I would like to know what happened.

Re: SafariLive - Anyone here watch?

Hi @ Montana , looks like funding is low so they had to let a few go. I see nature guides Sydney and Patrick and safety guides Senzo, Craig and a few others have lost their job, very sad, they have all become our good friends thru the safaris right? Google safarilive (the first link that comes up) and watch the tail end of July 11 sunset drive on youtube, you can see a very emotional Patrick saying thank you and good bye.   Smiley Sad

I am glad they got funding back for the Massai Mara tho, I missed those portions of the drives. I get kind of bored doing just Djuma. Anyway yes, I still hop on the jeep when I can!!  Love David and the Sausage Tree pride in the Mara!

@SeaGal

I saw Patrick’s sad, heartbreaking farewell. He is such a softie. On one of his previous drives, he saw lion cubs get killed during a fight between two prides. He cried then too.

I just started watching Safari Live this year so I don’t know if this kind of upheaval is the norm. From the little I was able to read Sydney is devastated. I feel so sorry for him - and the others.

I try to watch both Sunrise and Sunset and especially like the spectacular Mara landscape.  I am so glad they are able to broadcast from there again.
