SSI AND PENSION TOGETHER?

asking this for a relative. he is getting SSI and has a company pension coming. at what age does he qualify to receive his pension? is it 55 or retirement age 66? he is unable to work and SSI isn't enough for him to live on. his age is 50 and 55 is five years away. can he get both SSI and pension @ the same time?
