@Drythe,

They maybe thought you were saying hi instead of excuse me could you move?!😅

Don't remember where I heard it--long time ago--but I heard they spread their wings in the morning to dry them of the dew collected in the night.

DH & I live very rural, there's a good bit of roadkill, and we see them often. There used to be a dead tree we passed each day---one morning there must have been 15-20 buzzards in that tree, on various levels, sitting with their wings spread. What a sight--they looked like some kind of totem pole! This was before phones with cameras, so I didn't get a picture, something I've always regretted.

They will eat most anything dead---but they won't touch a skunk (not that I blame them). Dead deer, raccoons, possums, whatever, don't last long....but a dead skunk will lay stinking til it's nothing but a grease spot on the road!

There's a gang of them that like to hang out on some business office buildings here in our part of the city for shelter...

They aren't the prettiest, but they serve a definite purpose as a kinda of a "clean up crew".......

My concern about them here in the city is vultures may endanger small animals including cats and small dogs, which our Wildlife Rescue Organization says it's possible  if they cant find enough of their normal food supply.....

I think possums are cute...I guess I just love animals...

We have a lot of fields and green belts in our area and we have quite a bit of wildlife including possums, deer, and racoons.....hawks and egrets.....and of course the beautiful cardinals, blue jays, mockingbirds, humming birds, morning doves, finches, grackles, vireos and others....

I am a complete bird nerd and think that they are so much fun to observe. Nature has plenty to say if we are willing to take notes!
