I think he really wrote "images".  His small "a" is different than his small "e".  There is a difference.  I also think this child is probably under 5.  Too bad they don't give us his age.  

I wouldn't put too much into this.  It's just a little kid copying something his eye focused on.  We'd  have to know much more about this before making any judgements.  JMO of course.

They were clearly copying, yet wrote 'Imeges' and not Images. All they had to do is pure copying - and they couldn't.

I don't think the child copied wrong.  I think that is just how he makes his a.  The e is different.

The parents have a lot to do with this.  They need to be monitoring what their child is learning in school and reinforcing it.

Start with , "Tell me what you learned in school today."

We are their first and most important teacher.

I agree @sophiamarie .  That letter is formed as a child's "a" and clearly not the e the child used twice.

I did too.

They are obviously very young given we only used that type of paper in the lower grades.

There is still plenty of time left to improve and get things correct.

I never had the luxury of knowing English when I entered school in the 3rd grade.  I just knew "yes"  and "no"  The 3rd day I was there, I lost my lunch money.  I was in a blind panic.  I was crying so hard and I was pretrified.  I couldn't explain to anybody that I didn't have money and that I would not be able to eat lunch.  My parents had to come over to the shool and calm me down.  Eventually I learned English.  But had to sit with the first graders for that.  I was so ashamed...

I think that child was just confused.  IMO the teacher didn't explain it well.  That's a little kid, obviously, using that paper.

Stupid, imo, to give the child that page without explaining what "Getty Images" was.  I see it as the teacher's error.

i don't think the teacher even thought twice about the getty images on the photo, let alone trying to explain it.  that took an ingenuous kindergartner or 1st grader to think that one up.

that's why i think it's funny and so cute.  i'll bet the parents think so too.
