Be cautious of the info put out there. An old email I havent used in years is listed but no other data is attached.  All we can figure out is someone tried to sign up using that email but wasn't able verify the confirmation email so it never went further.

I just read this:

Ashley Madison did not require users to verify their email addresses.

Interesting.  I checked with two sites. The email is listed but nothing else. Hmm.

I couldn't imagine a site like Ashley Madison requiring users to verfiy their e-mail account.

When people decide to cheat in such a manner I think that the verification of a whole lot of things goes out the window.

But many used their real names, emails attached to the government, military, corporations, financial institutions, etc. and on top of that their credit card info.

Well, those would be insane cheaters. lol

I, for one, would never want to cheat with anyone's spouse SO STUPID as to use their real name, work e-mail and bank account information.

What next? They're going to use their childrens' school as their emergency contact person (should there ever be a cheating-related injury)?

But then, they say that kind of DANGER turns on a lot of cheaters. I mean, for some, what is the point of cheating if everyone doesn't know you're married, a parent and that you're thisclose to the spouse finding out since you're using the in-law's e-mail addy as your own?

Its one thing to cheat. I mean, that's bad enough. But there is no excuse for being so stupid. Now THAT'S unforgivable. lol

reddit just shut down the ashley madsion subreddit and made it private. They only do this to explicit material. I've never seen them do this to other topics.

Perhaps with this hacking scandal (which brought all of this to light), they took an extra step to prevent someone (like an angry spouse or spiteful ex-lover or trouble-making co-worker) from openly posting someone's name or outing someone they know to be on the Ashley Madison site.

I suppose a secondary site could be held accountable for hosting such info or accusations about a particular indivual when the facts about that person and/or of s/he whom might post it haven't been verified (let alone their identities). lol

I think what's most disturbing about this story isn't really that a Duggar was on that site. I mean, what else is new with people like that?

But its that Ashley Madison has over 32 MILLION users.

That's a whole lotta highly organized, calculated cheating goin' on.
