I doubt you see seniors, the elderly ones on cell phones in stores or driving with them to their ears. We use them for emergencies only. Our thing is to communicate face to face or with our friends by our landlines or we use our cell phones for long distance calls. You are right about some of the elderly being rude and demanding. As an elderly, I hate that and mentioned it in my first post.

I was pointing out the selling of perfume in stores to state it doesn,t stop people from wearing it, though it bothers people, as does smoking, although that has been banned in many places,

If by elderly you mean 80 plus, then maybe you are right. Up to that age, I am right. I live in an area of the country popular with retired people. I can assure you the 60+ age group is just as addicted to their cell phones as are the 20 somethings.

Manners and kindness are becoming more rare every day. "All about me" is the new way of thinking, increased by social media. It is a sad situation.

We were outn'about a couple days ago, got behind an elderly gentleman in a 45 mile an hour speed zone, he was blah blah on the cellphone doing 30... and holding up traffic.. We are seniors and don't hang on our cellphones yet we are seeing more & more seniors/elderly on their phones both in and out of their cars... Talk about a serious addiction for so many people. Like my husband said, "Why in "h" can't they get those calls over before getting behind the wheel of a car?" He's right!!!!!!

No where has more senior people than where I live and I do NOT see seniors esp. elderly seniors hanging on cellphones as the younger do at all.I do not see people in my town with cell phones in their pocket everywhere they go etc.

Who wants the stress? When I leave the house I want the day to be about me and going shopping, etc. I don't want to be bothered by stupid calls and sure don't want to get a 200.00 fine

Sometimes checkers and other customer care employees need training in respect for the young, old and everyone in between.
There are very good checkers and there are very bad ones - there only for the paycheck. I prefer the ones who make small talk while checking me out, even if it's about the weather, or a good morning, afternoon, etc.
