I feel so bad for my son and his girl. He is so close to his friends and his dads family and this is to be a happy time. He and his fiances engagement party is this weekend. 3/4 of the people never RSVP'd. These are immediate family members, along with close friends IE wedding party. They did not invite every person they know.

So they double checked with people and 1/2 or more of the people arent going at all. These are family members and close friends (in the wedding) that my son has known his whole life and has stood by in good and bad. Hes helped them move, helped them through personal problems and went to every party and get together they ALL had his entire life. My son has literally given the shirt off his back to some of them. Not that they owe him but they are hurting his feelings.

The way I understand is, people dont like engagement parties and really have no excuse for not going except for one person who must work (which cant be helped). Well- I never went to an engagement party either and I am attending with my 1st husbands family there (IF they show up, most of them arent going) but my husband and I are going for my son and his fiance, NOT for ourselves. (most of my family is gone now so these are not my family members that arent attending but my ex's/kids dads family and friends of my son and his girl)

So I said to my son Im so sorry to hear this and Id remember this when they invite them next time or ask for help. I also told him to tell his fiances mother not to go overboard on food etc. because it will go to waste.

Oh well its their loss I guess. Its times like these when you find out who your true friends are.
