@KingstonsMom - That picture is just heartwarming!

DH grew up with lots of horses and two out of 4 sisters crazy about them. The two rode competitively. One stopped after high school. The youngest continued- English and jumping. We got to see a few of her shows.

A third sister took me riding when we visited his family after our honeymoon. I had been on a horse only a few times before, but they gave me a gentle mare and I did OK!

(His oldest sister wouldn't have anything to do with them or any of the other animals while she was growing up at the farm. Today she (divorced) has a dog!)

@KingstonsMom What a heartwarming post. Brought tears to my eyes. How blessed you were. I always always wanted to be around horses. Closest I ever got was a weekend at the Lazy J Ranch in Malibu, California, as a Brownie when I was about 8 years old.

@KingstonsMom Your lovely picture reminded me of my baby' Dolly B she was 16 hands- big girl - and she thought she was a cat! Always wanted cuddles.
She roamed free around our garden/fields and used to try to get in our cottage door and look through the windows.

Our cottage was about 500 y.o. With very small doors and windows. One of the men working on our cottage always said she'll get stuck in that door Missus and we'll have to pull the whole front down! She really was a Dolly!
