One of the most exciting aspects of any wedding, especially a royal one, Is the fashion. Watching what people wear ooh-ing and ahh-ing over the hats is almost as good as watching the tiny little flower girls and page boys waddling down the aisles.
But attending a royal wedding comes with great restrictions. The most outlandish thing will likely be a hat given the plethora of codes and rules that one must abide by if they're attending. After all, a royal wedding is built around decorum. So you don't want to be caught in a hat past 6pm (tiara time) or God forbid you wear wedges.
In honor of the most exciting day of the year (May 19th) fast approaching, we thought it best to give you a rundown on things to expect with regards to royal wedding fashions the traditions that govern these rules.
It's compulsory for hats to be worn in church
If you've observed a royal wedding before, you will be no stranger plethora of insane hats atop the heads of guests. It's because ladies are expected to wear
"appropriate" attire, adorning their shoulders, long hemlines and covering their hair-hence the hats.
Despite the tradition being steeped in frigid historical beliefs, people continue to top their heads with hats and it's frowned upon if you don't. Plus, They're a status symbol-a way of signaling one's social rank, The more elaborate the hat- higher the status.
Meghan's bouquet will have myrtle in it
In a tradition that was kicked off in the 1800's by Queen Victoria when she married Prince Albert, myrtle aka "the herb of love" is always in the bridal bouquet. Victoria planted the herb in her garden following the wedding and brides- Queen Elizabeth, Diana, Kate have had it in their bouquet ever since.

No doubt about it, evaluating the various hats, the more fanciful and kookier the better, is part of the fun of royal weddings. I seem to remember that Fergie's daughters, Beatrice and Eugenie, have been responsible for some doozies!

There were so many jokes about Beatrice's hat. I wonder if she received compliments from those in attendance. Was it strange only to us?

One thing I found interesting is that neither Charles nor William had wedding rings at their ceremonies ... just their brides. Harry is planning to also wear a wedding ring.

I wonder how many people in the UK will actually be glued to the Telly to watch the wedding and how many will be glued watching the FA final cup football (soccer) which is like Super Bowl Saturday over there.
There will probably being more Americans watching the wedding, than Brits.
Also, Prince William is Harry’s best man as well as being the president of the FA. The president always gives the trophy to the winner.
I wonder how that will be handled. He can’t be at two places at once.

I’d rather stay home and watch the soccer game than wear one of those ugly hats. I am not a hat person to begin with...so those would be a no go for me.
they don’t look royal or classy, they look stupid...there I said it.

@Carmie. You hit the nail on the head! F.A. Cup v Wedding. Reports are William has already told them he cannot present cup. Re my relatives/friends over there it seems that the women will be watching t.v. wedding, men off to the pub - if they do not have 2 t.v's - to watch the footie.
