Re: Rose of Tralee Celebration

Does anyone know how or why the Irish shows began?

I don't recall anyone ever speaking about that.

I'd like to see them expanded, and (it's been said before) also include other countries.  There must be a lot of hurdles to overcome with products other than jewelry.

There appear to be few new products in the line-up.  They've been cutting way back on air time for both R of T and SPD.  I'm wondering if Irish products will soon be a thing of the past.

Yes, it is getting to be less and less time on the air for them.  That is so sad.  They have so much pride in their products they bring to us, and rightfully so.......

And I'm pretty sure the vendors have to pay their own travel expenses over "the pond" and so they make alot less here now, selling fewer things than they used to when there were a lot more shows with a lot more products offered.

Is Matt Doulin on today?  I love his Boyne Valley Weaer products.

And what about the Dresden lady?

I really enjoy how laid-back and informative the Irish vendors are.  No hardsell.  And they seem to be so proud of their products.  Love these shows.

Ladies, I did order the Connemara/Waterford Hurricane Lamp and one of the sweaters (the Tree of Life pattern in green).  These are either for me, or I have started Christmas shopping.  Smiley Happy

Have a feeling they have to pay their own way......maybe the Q gives them a discount, but it could be pretty expensive.

About the 2 folks you mentioned, I don't know if they will be on or not.

Something I was thinking about while getting ready for bed early this morning was when I was working before retirement, I always saved 2 vacation days so I could be home and watch the Q on those days.

Isn't this the sweater they are showing now the one that you like????  Boy, that blue is beautiful.

Re: Rose of Tralee Celebration

About Belleek......the teapot they had on is pretty much like the one my sister got for me when she was over there.  Had a Belleek Christmas from her that year.  Got the teapot, creamer and sugar bowl, and several other things.  I do need to pick up some of their mugs in the basket weave.......to complete the tea set.......  I do use them a lot in the winter.......

I agree with some of you about doing some of your Christmas shopping from these shows.

If you are really wanting any of their sweaters, this is the place to get them......they cost more in Ireland than here.

@ShowMe  They did just present the cape / cardigan I'm interested in, yes. People who reviewed it really loved the blue.

[ Edited ]

During these wonderful shows I got A259709 in wine, A263769 in grey and the set of 2 Beleek 14 oz migs H193343 (GREAT size...we use a keurig that has a 12 oz option so plenty of room for creamer!) ...

I miss when the Q had the Irish shows all day Smiley Sad
