Root Canal with a Crown.... Anyone??

I am schedule to have a root canal with a crown next week, I am so nervous about this, .. I have heard it is painful after the fact. I have read that sometimes a root canal does not help the pain.. I would hate to waste $600.00 bucks and still have trouble with my tooth.

What is your experience if you have had a root canal with a crown?
