My name is julie and my dog rocko died in Sunday night . I want to thank everyone for their kind words. My dog was a mix of beagle and lab. He was a rust color . I don't know how to post a picture. He was panting for a week and we thought it was the heat. Sunday the panting increased and we said we would go to the vet in the morning. We went out on the deck, and rocko went to the yard for business. He then collapsed. My husband ran to him ,but he got up and came up the deck steps and collapsed again. We put dinner away and put him in our car and went to our local animal hospital. They came out with a stretcher and helped us lift him, as he weighed a hundred pounds, and took him in the back way. We had to fill out paperwork. They took us to a waiting room.the doctor came in and said they were giving him fluids and his temp was 106.6. She said he had laryngeal paralysis and possibly a heat stroke. Surgery might help but was not guarenteed. The surgery was 1500.00 and the hospital room was 2500.00 a night. She left us to discuss this and then came in to say he was not responding well. She said he would not get better. We decided we would not make him suffer anymore, and the doctor said she would bring him to us to say goodbye. We cried. Two minutes she came back in and said she was sorry but he just had passed. I thought I would die with him. Everyone went to see him. I couldn't go.they had sedated him so I guess he calmed down and left for heaven. I am 52 years old and had a massive heart attack at 45 with 100% blockage ?I was left with heart failure?two years later I was told I had diabetes?then I got side pain two years later and had a brain and back MRI I was told I have ms. I take twelve pills and two needles a day. That dog was with me every day since I no longer work. He kept me busy feeding him, walking him at the park we went to every day at 1:00 pm. We loved each other. He got sick so fast and we were too late. I pray he is better now and picture him running around in heaven happy.he kept my depression down by making me move.he was the boss of our house, and now he's gone.please pray he is happy in heaven. Once again thank all of you .

Momjules, your post was so heartwrenching. I could feel how upset you were when you lost Rocko so suddenly. I wish I could say just the right thing to make your pain go away, but sadly, it is something that just takes time. Cherish your memories of Rocko and be comforted that he is in his prime again in Heaven and knows how much he was loved here on earth.

Julie, my heart just breaks for you, hearing Rocko's and your story. It is so hard when we lose a friend who has been with us so many rough times in our lives. I know you are grieving now and your heart hurts so bad. I truly believe though that our animals do not want us to be alone and someday when the time is right Rocko will send a very special someone to you to ease the pain in your heart and the emptiness of your house. Sending a very caring hug to you.

Dear Julie, thank you for sharing your Rocko's story with us. Sounds like he was a big, beautiful, sweet boy. So sorry you are having to deal with this. Sounds like you've been thru so much already. I believe your Rocko loved you as much as you loved him and was always there to protect you. He would not want to be the cause of your grief now and if he could would let you know he is young and healthy and waiting for you at the bridge. Be gentle with yourself and take the time you need to heal. Some people may not understand and tell you he was "just" a pet. No one here feels that way. We know our precious furry kids take a piece of our heart with them when they have to leave us. Bless you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Becky

Julie, I am so sorry about Rocko and you have been through so much yourself. My uncle came down with MS when he was in his 40's and it's a horrible disease. Rocko is at the Bridge, romping around and 100% healthy again. Please post here anytime. Most of us are nice Smiley Happy
