A Robin Williams movie I really liked was Insomina with Al Pacino. Robin was very effective as the "bad" guy in this movie (although policeman Al has something to hide too). Very good thriller.
In addition to Awakenings, I also loved The Birdcage, Moscow on the Hudson, Jumanji and Hook.
When I first heard about Hook, I just could not picture Robin Williams as Peter Pan. Even though he has a child like quality, I didn't think he was physically right for the role. Well, of course, I was wrong. He was perfect in the role and was great as Peter. I really love that movie. I need to see it again very soon.
I need see to The World According to Garp again too. A kind of disturbing film really but it stays with you, which I always think is the mark of a great movie. Robin's performance was amazing.

I was stunned when I heard that he'd died. I didn't know him personally but for some reason his death is hitting me really hard, i've been crying off & on since I heard about it.

So true. My eyes were stinging with tears watching a segment on him this morning.

He had a talent that has touched many over the years....I remember his start as Mork on the Mork and Mindy show....OMG he made me laugh.
My favorite movies with him were: Bicentenial Man, Mrs. Doubtfire, Dead Poets Society, and Good Will Hunting.....there were a few others thaqt I enjoyed too but these were the standouts for me.
May he R.I.P.

I saw some bits from Actor's Studio this morning and he was absolutely hilarious.
No surprise there, of course.
What a brilliant man.

News conference scheduled for today at 2:00 pm on Robin's death. It was reported he died by hanging and no suicide note has been found thus far. Robin, RIP.

I think his death has hit so many of us so hard is he had such a gift for making us laugh that even in our darkest moments we could laugh with him. I watched Bicentennial Man after losing my hubby and I sat there laughing and crying all the way through the movie and felt better for it.
I read an anecdote about him visiting Christopher Reeve in the hospital after that horrible accident that paralyzed him. He burst through the hospital room door wearing a scrub cap, yellow hospital gown and talking in a Russian accident announcing he was Chris' proctologist and the examination had to take place immediately. Chris said it was the first time he laughed since being hurt.

I can't fathom this which goes to prove I don't understand mental illness.
I hope in the coming days the news media will do a short segment on depression. So more people can look at this brand of extreme sadness.
