Here are my thoughts and part of my experiences of retiring at a young age.

I retired 27 years ago at age 52, and have never looked back. Kept myself busy with my many hobbies, and my love of the game of hockey. Was/am very happy with my choice to leave that part of my life, permanently in my past.

Spent part of 14 years battling life and death health issues, but in 2017, I was able to keep working towards my physical fitness goals. Was shocked when I wasn't set back once again with a debilitating illness. Continued till I reached 1 of my goals. Next I worked for 4-5 months to learn to ice skate at my past levels.

Money has never been important to me, so I never even entertained the idea of working, not even part time, much less the commitment of having at least 10 hours of my busy days taking up my precious time.

Not sure your reasons for deciding to work full time again, and I feel any reason to want to know. That is your personal business, and rightfully so. I will wish you the best in this adventure.

Last thing my old boss said to me before I left was that she wanted to take me out to dinner. So I am going to let her "wine and dine" me. And take it from there.

We just had 6 inches of snow and I am in no hurry to go back to my 25 mile commute one way in snow. So I am sitting back and letting my old boss take the lead.

I do feel bad, while I was there not one person had one nice thing to say about my replacement. Now I know why my old boss has been encouraging me to come in for a visit.

Make sure you get plenty of rest, drink water, take walks - all the things you were able to do when you didn't work. If you worry about household tasks, treat yourself to a little help. Know you have options. Good luck to you. I find my post retirement job to be more enjoyable than my 'career.' I'm able to let things go, don't get annoyed in general and know I have options.

@San Antonio Gal  Congratulations and best wishes on your endeavor back into the working world! Don't know how long you've been home, but if I could have returned gallopping horses could not have stopped me!

The friends made through various work projects, the achievements and goals set/met, and furthering my education beyond expectations enabled my career to grow in directions never anticipated. Working was such a rewarding experience for me!

Hope you have the same experience as you return to banking. Anxious to know what area of banking is your expertise. Always felt the Trust Dept. would be fascinating.

One thing about banking: There is never a lull in business! Your days will go quickly. Give it at least six months.

Confident you'll be fine and find enjoyment in anything you do! Your personality is fabulous for working with people. Keep us up-dated as you have time, please. Best wishes on a successful transition back into the workforce.

@San Antonio Gal, we haven't posted together often, but I have read many or your posts. You strike me as confident and kind - two huge assets in life and "on the job." I'm sure you'll rock at your new job - don't stress girl, you have it covered! Best, LuLu
