I can't wait for retirement, but it's still a good five years away. I work for a large well known company.  I remember retirement parties over the years.  The company paid for the cake and everybody in the building was invited.  Plus your team leader took the team out for lunch.  Those days are gone. 

These days it your team doesn't initiate a party and provide the cake, there is none.  It's kinda sad the employee is not celebrated.  If I were to retire today, I wouldn't want anything done.  Who knows how I'll feel in five years.
