@Coastalcarolina

Would you mind sharing the receipe for Panera's broccolli cheese soup? A couple of friends and I stop there frequently in the winter for soup, but I'd love to have the receipe in order to make it on weekends for my family's quick get togethers on the patio. Thanks so much!

Re: Restaurant Quality and additional fees

@scatcat - I decided to look into the saga of the $5 footlong and it was quite interesting.

It's been taken out of Subway's offerings and brought back several times; the most recent 2020.  (Probably bad timing for that, given the pandemic.)

However, the reason given for its demise is the discontent of franchise owners who said it cut into their profit margins too much.  Nothing to do with minimum wage.

Re: Restaurant Quality and additional fees

The only time we will eat out is if we have a gift card and now that's not very often at all since we have stopped all extended family birthday and Christmas gifts.

We do use coupons for Popeye's.  That's our go to if we are out around lunch time or if I don't feel like cooking that night.

That's so true about the App!  I don't order through an App.  Don't like the idea of having to download every single fast food place's App on my phone either.

Me either.  My husband does the APP thing.  And, many times, you have to pay by credit card when using the APP.  I don't like doing that either.

I don't like having to pay by card either.  I'm always nervous if I lost my phone, someone would have all my banking information.  Plus, the way places get hacked now it would be my luck that would happen lol.

That may be an answer for me..

there is a gluten-free bakery near me that serves great, fresh nutritious food!

Since you have found independently-owned businesses for restaurants, it seems that these restaurants would be the most responsive to the feedback of their customers!

Thank you for posting... extra information always helps.

I feel the need to add that their family had one activity after another non-stop...the last four weeks.

The kids went to a summer camp; then their family had an unexpected family obligation come up in another state.

They have too much activity for my peace of mind!
Maybe they will wise up and take groceries when a car trip is necessary.

I certainly hope that  there is not a dire situation finance wise.

Will talk to DD about it when things at their house finally calm down a bit.

Just think...EVERYWHERE we go in a car with teens now we must take FOOD because of poor quality/high cost of fast food restaurants.

I worry about DGD because she is at the age (10) where preteen fat begins to form. She wants to eat healthy...I'm guessing some of the girls o her cheer team may have had an influence on that!

DGS does not seem to be capable of forming fat so far! LOL
