OMGosh!  This is devastating for your community   It looks like there are roads that aren't even drivable.  And this is from the fires (and then floods) right?  I'm so sorry for your community.

We had another flood yesterday afternoon. These photos are of the same street intersection in my original post. This intersection was in the last two photos of my original post. Yesterday's flood caused landslides and significant erosion.

The street that inspired my original post and was being called a river by the media suffered yesterday as well. The remaining pavement is at the top of the photo. The street is gone in the bottom half and a deep trench is forming.

Praying that the ongoing erosion and destruction will abate, @On It .  Your long-suffering but spirited community is in my thoughts.

I'm so sorry your village is going through this. I feel for all of you and hope things turn around soon.

Not everyone knows the slang or words people in any one town, city, or village use. 

People don't use the correct words sometimes because they don't know them.

It's ok with me if reporters make mistakes. The key is that the suffering and damage is being viewed and understood better by those watching tv. Many viewers will offer financial or other help too.

On the rare occasion that I'm familiar with an item in the news, I find the inaccuracies unacceptable. Wishing the OP the best.
