And to add to this:
Just two and a half weeks ago we had a major storm--no electricity for four days.
The only phone that worked was a landline still attached to the wall--
sort of a fun phone we brought to this house when we moved here almost 30 years ago. Our cell phones were sketchy, and the cell towers in some areas had been affected. It really made us realize we were glad to have the old-fashioned phone
still functioning quite well.

With aging and the memory built into everything, I would have no problem remembering several I could call. Running my adult hockey league long before answering machines, I remembered many telephone numbers. Why? I called a lot of players from work, on a pay phone booth, during my lunch and/ or break times.
Fortunately, my nickel or dime returned when I got no answer. I did write some of them down, but went mostly with my memory. I rarely use auto call on my home phone, even though I have them in memory, I prefer punching the buttons, when I make calls.
I could tell so many stories about phone systems, my likes and dislikes, when it came to calling, some of my "married with children players", some would not pass the Community Standards here. Not nice many times.

Well, I don't use my cellphone as much as most to call people. (I use my cell more to take pics and use snapchat and instagram which my grand kids got me hooked on. lol). So that would be a YES, I have immediate family and close friends phone numbers memorized, as well as my Drs numbers. I also carry a phone index in my purse (and a pocket calendar). So I am either old fashioned or I don't trust electronics..lol.. PS We still have a house phone too, and always will as long as they exist!

I have to retain a ton of numerical sequences for work, I can recall most telephone numbers but I do have some written down in a litttle diary notebook I carry in my handbag.

I still know land lines of family members. The only cell numbers I know are mine and my hubbys.

I don't have any phone numbers programmed into my cell phone, so I know a couple dozen or so.

I think all those "auto" and "pre-set" numbers is what MAKES us forgetful.

This post made me laugh to myself! My answer would definitely be a "NO"!
I do not remember anyone's number anymore. Everyone is just programmed in and I never even pay attention to the actual number.
I guess the simple push of a button is not the same as actually dialing or pushing in a whole number that you probably had memorized for years!

Even though the numbers are programmed into my phone by name, I still manually dial them.
I have a knack for remembering phone numbers. As long as I deal it once or twice, it's committed to memory. It takes me longer to go into the phone directory and look for the person's name than it does to just dial the number.
