Re: Remembering Joan, with fondness

[ Edited ]

Has anyone yet mentioned the suggestion/hint of Joan in the main character of Amazon's new (out two weeks) TV mini-series called The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel ?

All episodes are now available, I believe, but I am watching them one at a time each evening.  Warning: If Joan's ribald humor outraged you, you do not want to watch the show.  Plus, the character flashes her breasts on stage her first night exercising her comedic talents.  (I'm not revealing anything that isn't in a basic writeup of this show.) However, if you do not watch this, you will be missing out on some excellent acting and a recreation of the 1950s that doesn't come along often.  Plus, one cannot help but think of Joan when observing the main character as she navigates her life, which is in shambles.

The main actress who plays Mrs. Maisel and the show itself have been nominated for a Golden Globe.

The series was written by the woman who did Gilmore Girls, Amy Sherman-Palladino, and she has a fine touch.

I miss Joan on QVC.  Luckily I have several of her jackets, pants, and many pieces of her jewelry.  She was so stylish.  I think many people either don't know (or care) that she had such a kind heart.  Very charitable and even delivered meals to shut-ins.  She is truly missed.

Hi dear friends. I am back home, and just physically drained. I don't know what there is about hospitals that do this to me?

We are pretty sure Mr Cherry will get an all clear. The Dr. said he saw no signs of cancer anywhere. He did say Mr.Cherry's appendix was a bit swollen in one area ,and  did a biopsy, but there was no sign of cancer

We are due back at his surgeons in a few days, to find out the results. It's been a long drawn out ordeal, and Glory Be , we are nearing the end of it, a little bedraggled, but whole ,and thankful.

Thanks for the good wishes. They are like a tonic to me.

@cherry I'm glad things are looking good. Hospitals do that to me too. It's your loved one going through all that, plus for me it was incredibly stressful and frustrating dealing with the incompetence of some and the lack of information.
