I totally agree.

But the public opinion will define ‘awful shame’ as he was such a

‘nice guy’. I personally don’t have any pity. The Texas Department of Public Safety was wise to release. If one person can learn from this, then it was worth it.

His representatives are saying:

Notwithstanding the release of the tape, Randy and his team will have their day in court regarding the ongoing lawsuit against the State of Texas in relation to the violation of his civil rights.

Wonder what was the civil right which was violated...

Must be a slow news day when people are discussing a 50+ year old drunk man running around nake five years ago.

I really don't understand why it's appropriate to ridicule the disease of addiction and embarrass someone who struggles with it.  If the guy was running around naked due to a mental illness like bipolar or schizophrenia, most people would have immediate compassion and understanding.

Same thing, different disease.

"Travis was reportedly belligerent and confused at the time and went as far as to threaten the arresting officer’s with death. His blood-alcohol level was later tested at a 0.21, more than double the legal limit to drive. A dashboard camera reportedly caught the whole incident, which would normally be a matter of public record."

if a dashcam camera video is "normally a matter of public record" then why should he receive special treatment? he could have killed someone!

@sunshine45  He's receiving "special treatment" by having this splashed all over the international news rounds.  That's not fair to him.  He should be treated like anyone else which means not having his arrest splashed across the tv entertainment realm.  It's not entertainment.  It's a disease.

And not to minimize DUIs, NO ONE should get behind the wheel of a car drunk, but let's also chastise the totally sober people who need to put down their phones and stop killing people too.

@sunshine45

And technically he threatened the life of the arresting officer.

It’s all on video.

I, too, saw the clip and do not understand why it was being shown now, except to embarrass him.  However, not only do I not condone drinking and driving, but I don't condone threatening anyone.  He is very lucky that he is just being embarrassed with the video and not charged with making threats to a police officer.   Those officers showed tremendous restraint and treated him with courtesy that he may not have deserved.

The next time that I hear salt and ice together, it better be in a margarita!

Why did they release the video after all these years have passed?
