@Bri36,   I did not know and that is very sad.  He had such a deep, sweet voice.  I wish him good health and peace.

That's a rotten thing to do after all these years. I've seen Randy Travis in concert twice, love his voice and I'm not a country fan.  I know he's very ill now, this cant help his recovery.  And I'm certainly not condoning driving drunk for anyone, anywhere, any time.

I do remember Randy Travis.

Wow I thought he had passed away last year. Guess not.

there have been stories of his drinking and how out of control it had gotten several years ago. I guess he is back on the alcohol again.

@sunshine45  I would never expect you not to.  You come at this issue from a very different place than I do.  Like I've said before on this board, no opinion is wrong.  It's just a different point of view and very welcome as I would hope mine is too.

And I would never be so arrogant as to think that I could change another human being's independent thoughts.  Your's or anyone else's.  If we all thought the same way, we'd be a very boring planet and Google may not exist, which for me, is a very scary thought.  Smiley Very Happy

I saw where a judge allowed the release of the 2012 incident and it's a shame.  There is no reason other than to embarrass Randy Travis.  I saw him perform several years ago, maybe around 2006 and he put on one terrific show.  I feel bad for him.  I don't think he's had much of a recovery from a 2013 stroke.

Randy was, (and still is), my favorite performer ever. I saw him in concert 3 times and he did put on a fantastic show. Releasing the video now does not do anything but humiliate him and I wish it had not been released. He has suffered enough between his alcoholism and his stroke. Obviously what he did was very wrong, but I only wish him peace and health now.

Most people don't understand addiction as a disease.  These people don't want  to live like that.....I have worked with addicts as a nurse and it's a struggle for them everyday.  The problem is they do things that hurts other people....most of them in "blackouts" that they don't even remember...but they are not "bad" people (some, maybe, but there are bad people who are not addicts).  They are sick people.  Until we make rehab affordable and effective, this will not change.  I have had doctors say they receive very little education in medical school on addiction....hence the opiod crisis our country is in right now.  And as  one poster said, people wouldn't be laughing and judgemental if it had been a paranoid schizophrenic lying naked in the road.  Randy has fought addiction his whole life.   When he first hit it big, the older lady who was his manager had to get him out of jail so he could perform.  So this has been a life long disease for him.
