Maestra:  Someone once told me, years ago, that the C*tholic religion at one time, many, many years ago, did believe in reinc*rnation.   Now, I have absolutely nothing to back this up, so maybe someone will have the time to research this.  ......... Keep in mind that this person was quite a historian.  What was written in the bible (and then removed) doesn't mean that all of the people in those times actually believed in what was written.

More food for thought.  Betty Edie had a near-death experience and wrote a book about it entitled, Embraced By The Light.  She touched on the topic of reincarnation.  She said we only come to earth once but that we have the cells/DNA from all our former ancestors.  These cells have our ancestors lives/memories imprinted on them and that’s what some people are picking up when remembering a past life.

'All in all', generally speaking, I don't know what to believe.  So many possibilites re: so many subjects.  It's just best (for me) to respect each person's thoughts, as long as they are good, decent, respectful folks.

I've studied my faith for many years ,and have never heard of this, not once.  People often say a lot of things about us that aren't true

I am a catholic, but that being said, there are many things that happen to people that defy explanation.  My deceased mother sometimes experienced things before they actually happened.  She used to say it was like viewing a movie in her mind.  And these things would happen down to the most minute detail.  I believe that is called deja vu!  So I am open to these occurences!

One of the most fascinating cases I've learned about is that of 35-year old Pam Reynolds, from Atlanta, Georgia.  Years ago, the BBC as well as Discovery had a program about what she experienced during her brain surgery in 1991:  

"This case comes the closest to hard evidence that consciousness survives physical death.

During her brain operation, blood was drained from the brain and the heart stopped.

She was incapable of hallucinating, yet she was out of the body and her observations [during surgery] proving it.  Debunkers have worked extra hard to try to disprove this case.

Cardiologist Michael Sabom, who studied this case and others says that, Pam Reynolds was really out of the body and having a spiritual experience.  Consciousness can survive physical death."

It's nonsense to you, but there are major religions who have believed in it for a very long time.  I say that with a reminder not to go into the religious aspect.

@Noel7 People have believed in "religion(s)" for  a very long time....but there is no proof that religion is not just nonsense as well... no more than big foot or UFOs.  People like to believe in the supernatural.

I know what I believe, but I am so interested in finding out more and the reasons others believe what they do.  I respect all beliefs ... they all have a history and a reason.  Interpretations may change, but beliefs stay the same... a reason for everything.
