@Vivian Florimond wrote:Sorry, but this is nonsense. On the other hand, for decades my friends and acquaintances have said if there is reincarnation, they want to come back as my dog. I admit that my beagles led charmed and spoiled lives.

It's nonsense to you, but there are major religions who have believed in it for a very long time. I say that with a reminder not to go into the religious aspect.

Did you read the Mod's response to @Moonchilde question?
The mod said that it was a computer glitch that accidentally took the other posts down when the post with the bible verse was removed.

I did @Plaid Pants2. it was @Anonymous who was kind enough to respond to us and explain. I already wrote back to her and thanked her.

Thank you very much, @Anonymous - I appreciate your response. Boo-boos happen, but it's good to know it was only that.

I understand the Dali Lama says he might not reincarnate after death. It has to do with China's role in Tibet
He has been such a positive world leader, that would be a shame for his people.
I don't know what is true. I only believe I will live once. I can't speak for others

@Noel7 I'm usually a pretty logical person and to me reincarnation just "makes sense" based on what I've learned during my lifetime. Like @Moonchilde said, I'm also pretty certain I won't know for sure till later. Which reminds me of a comment I heard somewhere several years ago...something about believing (and working oneself as if) reincarnation exists because if will be a good thing if it does and if it doesn't it won't matter anyway. I thoroughly butchered the actual quote, but I think I got the idea across?

In reading through the thread, it's making me smile that pretty much every single book or case mentioned, I have read, or read about. I had a very inquiring mind as a teen and 20-something (well, I still do, and hope I always will). I read just about everything that was written about Edgar Cayce back in the day, though I haven't kept up to current. I don't invariably swallow everything I read hook, line and sinker, but it's food for thought, which IMO is never a bad thing.

I'm there, also, @cherry
One basis of reincarnation is that we are here to learn a lesson, to make ourselves better for the next return. Something to to work toward anyway.

I think I just said basically the same thing
We're on the same page, it would seem.

Yes, this. It's essentially a reason to live as if there will be some kind of reckoning, a variation on the way Abrahamic religions look at things. Differing beliefs coming round to the same general idea, even if the reasons differ.

Edgar Cayce funded a medical hospital in his time. He was all about healing, as I'm sure you know, and supported medical treatment, not something wacky, at least to my knowledge. I think it's still going but I haven't checked it out in a long time. You may know all this already.
