Re: Regarding the baby left in the van that was stolen

But what exactly is a "safe neighborhood"? I happen to live in an area where houses are around 1 million plus dollars. I would never leave my car outside with things in it. Just not a good idea, safe neighborhood or not.

That's something that the mom said, but nowhere is safe.

Guess she though pulling into the driveway a few steps from the front door was ok.

Re: Regarding the baby left in the van that was stolen

I think the problem is common sense. It seems to have skipped some people. It is sad she thought it was ok to leave the baby in the van with the motor running. People are stressed but that shouldn't cloud her judgement on your child. What if the child hadn't survived. Taking a few extra minutes to make sure our children are secure and safe takes a little more effort. Quick and fast are not always the way to go. It never ceases to amaze me what is happening in our society.

The problem is not the criminal who steals a vehicle not realizing a child is in there or not caring!!!  Being a parent is a huge responsitility and that child should always be the first priority no matter how stressed and how many things anyone has to do!!!  I wouldn't even leave an empty junker vehicle running!!  Common sense says that you just do not leave your child in a running vehicle alone even for a second!!!  Seems like that mother thought other things more important!!  I wonder what other unsafe things she does regarding her child!! She should face child endangerment charges and punishment should be parenting classes and counseling to learn priorities!!

Happy ending to a terrible story.... thank goodness! The judgement of some of the posts regarding the mother would be laughable if it wasn't so sad. PLEASE find me that perfect mother who never questioned her own decisions or never made a mistake while raising children! . We all know the old "Hindsight is 20-20" saying ....so lets ease up on Mom shaming and maybe show some empathy. The guilt she must be feeling over this must be beyond and will be life long I am sure!

A news update today reported a lady who was driving around looking for the van had her windows down, radio off and heard a baby crying. She stopped on the side of a road, got out of her car and found the baby crying laying in weeds on the side of the road. Apparently it had been dumped out of the van and they think it may have been there for a few hours crying. The baby was taken to the hospital, x rays neg, several bruises found but otherwise ok. The news showed the mom holding her baby.  Again I'm just thankful the baby was found and now back with mom

Wow, that's awful but I'm afraid we're gonna see this kind of thing.  The world is unraveling.  The Bible SAID it would.

@FancyPhillyshopper I was a young tired and stressed mother too. My husband worked long hours. I never ever left my baby in the car with the engine running and the keys in the ignition.

I'm not unsympathetic to her  but I am more concerned about what happened to that poor child.

@Love my grandkids    Didn't you just refer to this mother as a moron and want her charged and locked up?

Doesn't sound very sympathetic to me.

Calm down already.

@Pook   So crime is not a problem.  Gotcha.

I wonder how you would feel if the criminal who is not the problem stole your car and how many !!!! you would use to tell us it isn't a problem.

Such over-reaction.  Calm down.
