You can also go on realtor.com and specify "rent" rather than "sale" - and narrow down by zip code...may individuals, property management companies, and realtors use this site.

I am renting a home presently and the realtor I used posted all of his listings, sales and rentals, on realtor.com.

I'm with you. Although I have never been in a position where I needed to rent or buy, I check Realtor.com to check the market in my area. I go between two states and I like to keep informed on prices in our area. I find them to be more accurate than Zillow.

We check realtor.com, rent.com for rentals every day, and Zillow, and my daughter has a few more that she checks. I am registered to receive rental listings from about ten different sites now via email.

We rented when we first moved down here 37 years ago, and then I started buying in 1984, using sales proceeds to buy each subsequent house, including the one in Barnegat that I lost $80,000 (in cash not on paper) when I had to sell during the crash. I have rented since then and really have no interest in owning anymore, not even with my daughter. There is a definite decline in interest for owning a home these days, which is why rentals are so hard to find.

Ford, congrats on finding a place! I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but I'm sure you'll get it.

It sounds like a great community, and if they are that careful about checking backgrounds, you will have piece of mind knowing that your neighbors had to pass the muster too! Good luck!

Believe it or not, a good friend of my daughter lives on the opposite side of the same building. He also has the same type of apartment. He loves it there. The property manager told us they have had tenants who have been living there since the community was new! I believe it. We've seen it often of course, just driving by all these years, but never gave it a thought.

Also, the salon my daughter worked in before she became ill is in the adjacent shopping center (lots of trees between), so it already feels like "home" to her.

Ford - Wow! This sounds like it was meant to be! Oh I do so hope so!!

Ford--You are in my prayers. If you care to share, whatever happened to Toolbelt Red?

((Ford)), so good to hear you found a place. I have a feeling you'll be in with no problem. But it wouldn't mean so much if you didn't have to go to so much trouble. I can't believe you found a place with three exposures that met all the other criteria including pets. I'm so excited for you. I'm crossing my fingers just in case! All the best! Smile

She stopped banging. Heard some little taps one day since she stopped, but that's it. She's a big woman though, so I hear a lot of thumps and bumps, like she's bumping into the walls or furniture. But I figure she can't help that.

Thanks for your kind thoughts.

Nothing comes easy for us these days. I just wish that property manager hadn't given us so much hope. I figured it was over when she said "ten years."
