Hmm. I just got a card in the mail saying my script would be automatically renewed unless I called. I actually called andcancelled. I find I'm  reading the issues less and less . I think I'm also irritated by their politically influenced posts on facebook. I'm wondering if others feel the same? Perhaps this is why they might be going under. I prefer my magazines to stick to recipes and beauty  instead of political commentary, especially when it's a view I don't share.

No one is forcing you to change your mind.   Not sure why people get so upset by different points of view.    Sometimes we actually learn something.

Re: Real Simple Magazine - is it going under?

I've been subscribing to Real Simple for probably 10 years and this time I'm not renewing it. I don't like like the layout / format changes they've made over the past 3 years. The fonts are too tiny now and reading it is no longer relaxing; even the header fonts are tiny.

I will miss the recipes because they are great. Several years ago their Thanksgiving issue had so many wonderful side and dessert recipes and turkey tips that I pulled out the whole section and filed in my recipe binder.

Oh well, sometimes good things come to an end.

Re: Real Simple Magazine - is it going under?

I got this free for a year (after making a purchase at the Container Store). It was okay, but I didn't renew after my free issues came to an end.

I think when when they give something away...it's because they're trying to "buy" new customers

O/P:  Maybe they returned your payment/check via mail because they had already taken the payment from your credit card.  That is, if you gave them your cc number on the previous subscription.  Just a thought.  Well, wait and see whether or not you continue to recieve issues.  And make sure you check your cc statements to make sure that the amount per subscription is correct.  One of our friends was charged $400 via cc for a newspaper subscription that she hadn't renewed (or cancelled).  One must make sure to cancel subscriptions or they will continue to automatically arrive unless you call or email or write to the company.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

@ROMARY - I never renew a subscription with my credit card - always a check so they can't "auto renew" when I don't want to - I would think if I sent two payments in they would  have just give me a second year - I do believe the last issue I got said "last issue", that's why I sent in a renewal and check.

Re: Real Simple Magazine - is it going under?

I hope that's not the case as I love it! It's the only magazine I subscribe too. About 6 months ago the longtime editor quit or was asked to leave and since that time I have noticed a change - and not for the good. Like another poster mentioned, the font size is very small in some areas - or perhaps I'm just getting old and eyes are failing! LOL! Also a couple times, the editions were very thin. At any rate, I hope they are failing completely.

Re: Real Simple Magazine - is it going under?

I was subscribing to All You and that went under and they automatically switched me to Real Simple.  Just dawned on me that I haven't received a magazine in months.  Maybe my subscription was up.

I can't find anything on-line saying they are not going to be making this magazine anymore.

I renewed my subscription so I hope they aren't closing.
