As I see it we already have webbie controlling our threads, I bristle at a fellow poster doing the same. Deciding what I can and can not read because they find certain words too harsh.
The importance of the topic was lost because of this and then ultimately poofed. But yet courtesy to the poster seems more important then the safety of innocent animals.
Caravaggio, I'd like to ask you this. Have you entertained the idea that the Webmaster may have deleted that thread on his/her own without my input? How about multiple posters reporting that thread "Inappropriate" causing its deletion?
There is nothing more important to me than the safety of innocent animals. You are making my simple request much more of a drama than it need be.
Whatever you say. Your thread asking webbie to delete the so called offending post is still active.

I think all feel they have common courtesy. Who's to say who's right or wrong or if either is?
When did it become an argument? I thought it was a discussion.

It was obvious what the topic was about - therefore it was up to each individual on whether or not not they watned to open it.
To actually WRITE or HAVE TO..DO NOT OPEN if you are sensitive is a bit over the top. It was QUITE clear what the topic was about..and you didn't need to read after that..
We need to put those big girl panties on and pull them ALL the way up. The poster was NOT graphic and it was quite clear what the topic was about.
I so agree with this. I tried to to tell the person offended that she might have to change her surfing habits if she gets so easily offended. We can only control ourselves.........and should not try to make the world conform to us. Of course, some things are universally accepted as gruesome....or egregious, but this thread didn't even come close. There was nothing gruesome in the thread title.
I understand not wanting to hear about all the bad things that go on in the world. But if we are ever to change them........we have to be AWARE of them!

I'm not a fan of graphic thread titles. "Warning: Graphic Information on Where Down Comes From" would have sufficed, IMO. It tells you the subject without giving the details.
There are people on Facebook who post gruesome animal torture photos, and I find it really distasteful. Most people are against animal cruelty, but we don't need to be assaulted by these images. For the record, I have read stories about animal abuse and seen photos/videos, but I was mentally prepared for them.

I don't think I "asked" Webbie to delete the thread. This is what I wrote:
"I hope Webbie will remove that particluar thread."
Meaning, that in Webbie's regular review of these boards, I hope Webbie would also realize that people might be upset by the details in the title and choose to delete the thread. I certainly didn't think I had the authority to make Webbie do that.

I think most have no desire to see disturbing images. The difference here is that the thread title really was not particularly graphic or disturbing. I think those who objected to this rather benign thread title are way to sensitive for the mainstream. They were warned not to open the thread if they are that sensitive. The OP was very considerate if you ask me. She warned the sensitive ones.......and yet gave enough info for those who, like me, like to at least a good hint about the subject matter in a thread.

""Plucking feathers from live birds"" is graphic to me. I don't think that poster should be called names though. I think it was an innocent mistake. It happens. We all have posted things we later regret. Going forward I would hope people think twice before posting graphic details in a thread title.

To all posters:
I care and I am not insensitive--- I changed the subject 4 times trying to be as informative and still sensitive as I could--- I wanted to protect people from being upset but also let them know what it was about--- guess it was wrong. I'm sorry---- I meant well.

I posted the article. My DH and I have worked with animal rescue and education for the public for years and after I saw the comments on another thread and saw people didn't know where down feathers came from I thought it would help to share the info--- because it breaks my heart and I thought the posters here who are wonderful animal lovers and advocates would want to know.

Awwwwwww - - no explanations needed on my part, Belle. Although I didn't see the OT I believe you had the best intentions. I hope it's dropped now.
