I am new to this forum and have not posted much. I didn't know it existed, and when I discovered it, at first I was afraid to look. I know this may sound silly or "gutless", but having grown up with dogs, cats, birds etc and having suffered so much heartache when they were ill or passed, I was scared to read about same here.

I thought after we lost Jet, our 15 year old gordon setter I would never ever have another pet. But... 8 years later I adopted two loving American Shorthairs by the names of Emma and Rosie. I love them to death. I spoil them, but I think I began to take for granted that they would always be with me.

After finally venturing to read the posts, although many made me sad, there was also a feeling of genuine community and kindnesses shared. I look upon Emma and Rosie every day now as precious gifts and let them know it...
