Yes...strong men being slapped by a drunk woman would "just take it."

A truly strong man would have held her hands at her side or found another way to de-escalate the situation.

A strong man NEVER makes a fist and knocks a woman out cold...and then drags her body by the legs.

You don't seem sympathetic to women. Why is that?

Re: Ray Rice reinstated in NFL

Wasn't he drunk at the time? Maybe the problem is not so much about abuse but rather drinking. People do all kinds of things when they are drunk. Sometimes, abuse is a by-product of another problem.

Since is girlfriend or wife has forgiven him. So should the NFL and also reinstate Adrian Peterson.

Re: Ray Rice reinstated in NFL

When I first started dating my husband who was a cop at the time, I jokingly said, "what would you do if I punched you"? Without missing a beat, he said, "If you punch me, all bets are off and you had better be able to take a punch because if I hit you, you're not going to get up for a long while"? Of course, he did not mean it. In all his 30 years on the force, 15 of them being a beat cop he always treated people respectfully. His theory is you should start slowly as people are always "wired" when they call 911. However, many times people who are mad, frustrated, high and or drunk would just start in berating them. He has had hot water thrown on him, he has been spat upon and during riot control, urine thrown at him.

Ah well....that's a potentially poofed subject for another time.

It's all about winning. Wonder if the Ravens will take him back?

I am sympathetic to women who are abused for no reason but I am definitely not sympathetic to women who play their mind games and even get physical and expect to get away with it - and they usually do!! If a woman cannot control herself then why should a man have to??!!! I have seen too many examples of these women laughing about torturing their men and goading them to hit them so they can call the cops!!! That's not right. Also, a good friend who raised a really polite son was arrested for domestic violence after his trampy wife did that to him. There is no way this man would ever have done that. She then went on to do it to 2 other men as they compared notes!! Like I said those that chase after athletes often just want the lifestyle and will do anything to keep it or get a great settlement even if they were cheating or if their husband wants to divorce them many unscrupulous women will ruin their careers because they can just to get even!! Like I said I experienced growing up with an abusive father and the last thing my mother (who chose to stay ) would have ever thought of doing is goading him in any way and that is what so many women do. Women are notorious game players in their relationships and many are so toxic that if it were not for the fact that men want the s x they would spend their lives alone!!

All women are not innocent victims just as all men aren't automatically guilty!

Abusers don't need to be "goaded" into their actions. They find any and all excuses.

That is blaming the victim...

I'm sorry you had to witness abuse as a child. That can lead to all sorts of problems interacting in a relationship as an adult.

Rice should have been reinstated - that's a legal issue and he's entitled to be treated legally. Too bad the bigwigs at the NFL didn't just admit they made serious errors from the get-go.

The issue of whether the reinstatement means he will play again is a totally separate issue in my mind. I don't imagine any team picking him up this year, but I also think the football public will accept him should a team decide to hire him next year.

Finally, for her sake, I hope his wife is right and that the abuse we saw was truly an aberration.

Re: Ray Rice reinstated in NFL

Most men do not lose their jobs for domestic abuse. Their employers allow the legal system to determine their punishment unless it involves public safety.

My sister was a victim of domestic violence on several occasions. We moved her numerous times only to have her return to her husband. She will admit now that she did instigate much of the violence especially when she knew he was drinking. She endured this because she felt jealous attention was a sign of love. She wanted passion and attention even if it was negative. Not all women are like this but some are and probably more than we think. If a woman stays and continues in this type of relationship they are somewhat responsible for the consequences. They need as much help as the man.

When my mother and I decided we could no longer trust her to leave the relationship and when she knew she was on her own, she sought help and was able to free herself from this violence. It was another tough love situation.
