Just saw a commercial for Chantix with Ray Liotta. First one I have seen with an actor. I don't like that the verbiage is almost the same for all of their commercials. Makes them seem totally fake. That being said, I quit smoking 2 years ago using Chantix. Only took one month of using it (quit week 2 but have to finish the prescription), this was after 50 years of smoking. I wish they didn't need to give all of the possible side effects on tv because that scared me off for at least 5 years. Lucky for me I had no side effects.

That’s wonderful you quit smoking!
Chantix has helped many, but unfortunately not everyone
has been as lucky.
I’ve posted numerous times about Chantix and my friend.
(This was written several yrs ago when someone reported
Chantix gave them vivid dreams).
—————————-
When I read "Chantix", it makes me so, so sad.
A friend of a friend of mine died which is Chantix related...
I believe it created the legislation for the safer Chantix of today.
Carter Albrecht was a musician here in Dallas in 2009.
Trying to quit, he tried something new called "Chantix"...
it caused him to act irrationally...enough where a neighbor
shot/killed him...got national attention. Nicest guy, but the drug
cost him his life. I believe the FDA formulation changed
after this happened, but when you said you had vivid dreams,
I had to respond in Carter's memory.
Here's a WIKI about the incident.

Congratulations to you on quitting! I also quit, it will be 2 years next month. Smoked about the same number of years as you. Just went cold turkey. BUT I have gained 22 lbs!! Think I substitute candy & ice cream and other junk food, well actually just food period for the cigs. A hand to mouth thing perhaps. Gotta tell you though if I walk by someone smoking I walk slowly and take a nice deep breath, love that smell. Do you still love the smell? Lots of people who quit can't stand it now. So many people have asked me "Do you feel better since you quit?" The answer is a big fat NO. I think I have more aches and pains and other bothersome issues since I stopped.

@grandma2pkmh Congrats to you!!!
@shaggygirl Congrats to you!!!
Congrats to EVERYONE who has managed to beat this nasty addiction.
Regarding Ray: I LOVE him. Just adore him. I'm not sure what is going on but his mouth doesn't move right; did you notice that? Also, they filmed him in slow motion when he wasn't speaking...why? I know he had horrible acne scars at one point so I think he may have had plastic surgery but...I liked him how he used to be, lol.

@shaggygirl Boy do I hear you!! I won't say how much I have gained and yes than hand to mouth motion stinks. Sometimes when I can't go to sleep I think, if only I could have a smoke. Yes I still want a cigarette but will not go back.

@grandma2pkmhIn a way, your reluctance to encounter the side effects of the Chantix sounds funny to me. Smoking has such horrid side effects of its own! I am so happy for you that you no longer smoke. Isn't it interesting that the drug companies have to give us all the side effects every time we buy even if a tiny percetage of users have reported them. I'd avoid my daily aspirin if I thought I'd have all its side effects!

One of the side-effects is death from lung cancer. That was the side-effect my mother experienced.
ETA: I love Ray Liotta--he started a long time ago on the soap opera, Another World. I absolutely loved him in Goodfellas--one of the funniest movies ever.

I used Chantix, too! It worked! Never went back.
I liked RL in The Rat Pack movie. He played Sinatra.
