Ravi passed away at the age of 92. RIP Ravi. The loss of yet another great talent. I didnt know this but he is the father of the singer Nora Jones as stated in this article.

Ravi Shankar has passed away, and the impact his presence had on the musical community are being remembered today. Perhaps best known for introducing traditional Indian ragas to Western culture, Shankar is being publicly mourned by artists from K.D. Lang to Slash.
Slash wrote on his Twitter page, "Sad day; spiritual, cultural & music legend, Ravi Shankar dead at 92. RIP." Lang also took to Twitter to express her sadness, writing "Ravi Shankar ... May you have a swift and positive rebirth. Thanks for being a musical ambassador."

After gaining widespread notoriety for hanging with The Beatles during the 1960s, Shankar became something of a hippie musical emblem, bringing his sitar playing and a revitalized interest in world music to American and greater Western culture.

Shankar is also the father of blues and jazz singer Norah Jone, who has yet to comment publicly on his passing. The Indian community is mourning Shankar's death profusely, including Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra and statements from the Prime Minister and the President.
