@Group 5 minus 1 Perhaps you should re-read my post.  I never said I don't RSVP.  I said I don't RSVP EARLY.  And I never said I was SO busy that I couldn't.

Be reasonable @Group 5 minus 1 .  She didn't say she wasn't responding, she said she responds closer to the RSVP by date, not as soon as she gets the invitation.

People are rude, rude, rude!  I can't stand when I ask someone to RSVP by a certain date and they don't.  Common courtesy seems to be a thing of the past.

On the other hand, I was invited to a wedding recently.  With a month still left to respond, I had the mother of the bride call me and very indignantly ask if I would be attending as they hadn't heard from me yet.  I was on the fence about going and her call helped make my decision.

While I sympathize with your situation, I think you have to honor the date you gave people to RSVP by.

As others have suggested, perhaps an e-mail or text the day before as a reminder that you have not yet heard from them.

@Citrine1  Exactly.

it is possible people never received the invitation, it happens. Also it is possible you did not receive the rsvp. That is why you write rsvp on an invitation.

Some people wait for the last minute to RSVP. There is still plenty of time though Smiley Happy

If you told people they have until Oct 1 to RSVP you have to honor that date. Not everyone RSVP to something as soon as they get an invite. As long as they RSVP by the date then I don't see what the issue here is. I think if you were on a deadline with the restaurants, you should have made the RSVP date sooner, but as it stands now, no one is obligated to RSVP early.

I would explain that "

due to the fact that the plans include RESTAURANT, those who do not reply with an RSVP by Oct 1 will not be included"

This might sound harsh, but the onus is on them.
They are being very rude! 🛑

Sometimes I wonder if some people really don't understand what RSVP means .... and how is that even possible?

@Janey2  My return address was on the envelope and if not deliverable it would have been returned to me by the post office, and some were hand delivered to his neighbors that I do not have email or phone numbers for.  My phone number and email address was listed on the invitation with a highlighted RSVP date.

This is another one of my Top Ten Pet PeevesSmiley Sad

If people don't know what RSVP means by now, they can always *Google* it.

I feel that if someone takes the time to invite me to an event, the least I can do is respond in the affirmative or with regrets as soon as possible.

And don't even get me started on the folks who show up - After NOT responding - Who get upset when they are told that there is no ticket, meal or room for them at the event - Because they did not RSVP as requested.

@DJs mom  On my original post my question is if I should send a reminder by the end of the month.  That's just a day or so before the requested date.  There was no need to request the RSVP date earlier because as I said, the restaurant will be contacting me the first week of October.  There is no issue, just a question about reminders if I don't hear from invitees by October 1.
