Interesting to see the ceremonial outfits chosen by royalty for signal occasions, like Britain's solemn "Remembrance Day", formerly Armistice Day.

This year, Catherine, the Princess of Wales, wore a strictly tailored coat or jacket, that has military overtones.   And of course, the poppies of remembrance.  Gives me nostalgia--  Canada observes Remembrance Day also-  so we always wore the red paper poppies also on that day:

This picture from 2019 shows that they do recycle outfits.  Neat that she had a jeweled poppy that time...

William was well-turned out for his ceremonial duties this year:

Always a moving day for veterans --

On a more celebratory note, Kate welcomed the President of South Korea, and a tiara made its appearance.

It's the first time she's worn the Strathmore Rose tiara.  Those formidable shoulder lines have agreeably retro Roz Russell or "Alexis Carrington" vibes --

The tiara belonged to the Queen Mother, the former Elizabeth Bowes Lyon, who owned it before she married into the royal family:

Also for this visit from President Yoon, Catherine broke out a stately and swirly red cape, which really brings the drama --

Re: ROYAL OUTFITS FOR NOVEMBER

In the picture with the red outfit doesn't look like Kate is wearing hose.. thought that was a royal requirement?

@TVLand  It looks like it doesn't it.  Some of the hose the Royals wear are very Very fine material.  Maybe after the passing of Queen E.  the regulation has been relaxed?

@Oznell

I recall reading in a fashion article that the royals and their  outfits also provide a great deal of "entertainment" for many Brits.

Never really thought of it that way before, but it seems to be true.

Re: ROYAL OUTFITS FOR NOVEMBER

@TVLand ,  and @candys mine ,  you're right, it does look that way.   But as @candys mine noted, there is some hose with an ultra fine denier that might not show up on camera....   It'd be interesting to know if they've relaxed the rule.

I think so, @Tinkrbl44 ,  but probably really varies from person to person, and not just in Britain.  There have always been royal watchers-- for the clothes, the historical occasions, the "drama".   Similar in some ways to why people follow the clothes of people in the performing arts, and why show biz awards shows used to garner big audiences, I suppose.

I tend to blow hot and cold with royal clothes-watching.  Sometimes I'm interested, sometimes not.  It's a fun escape.  And I'm not really drawn to the way people -- in general-- dress for award shows, so royalty is a better bet for me!   I do like the fact that, generally, the clothes are more subtle and classic.

What a pretty tiara.

You'd always be able to tell if I was wearing hose....it would have a great big run in it!   Smiley Happy

Oh, same here, @Flatbush --  I think they are so elegant.  But my poor feet, after two surgeries and looking at a third coming up, quail at the thought!

I don't understand the allure of the British monarchy.
