Too young to die... he had a wife and two young children now without a father.. he should have thought about that and worked on getting healthy. Way too overweight. So sad...

Unfortunately his ‘routine’ of self-deprecation
created his final ‘mic drop.’ Hopefully his death will
somehow inspire fans who are in his physical condition
to change before it’s too late.
@sidsmom, ??? 'his physical condition' ???
Ralphie May's rep gave a statement regarding his death ...
“Ralphie had been battling pneumonia and had cancelled a handful of dates over the last month in an effort to recover. Earlier this morning at a private residence in Las Vegas his body was discovered, cause of death is cardiac arrest.”

His weight contributed to his death.... he was not healthy... his body could not fight the virus.... I am sure to be so heavy he ate poorly and did not exercise.

He spoke about a thyroid issue contributing to his weight and difficulty with losing weight. An out of whack thyroid can lead to serious cardiac disease.

This is very true, I lost 80 lbs the last couple years. Before, every change of season I got nasty bout of bronchitis. SInce losing the weight- not even a change of season cold! My immune systen is much stronger.

I completely agree. Extremely inappropriate and no one really knows what underlying illnesses he had. Preaching the gospel on a particular dietary program is best left on the Wellness forum. Death notices .....really a rude place to preach and judge how someone died. Really speaks to the rudeness of some people.

@tansy That is possible.... but most likely not the case. He should have gotten his thyroid back in "whack" with a doctors help, if that really was the reason for his being so obese.

It's so sad that his death instead of his life has to be discussed. None of knows for sure his cause of death yet we are debating what killed him.
Men as a whole avoid doctors and treatment and he may have been one of those patients.
His career is a tough one, he has to do shows to support his family so missing them means the bills don't get paid. I wouldn't want to work in the entertainment industry where one day you're up and the several you're down. He and others like him have to stay fresh in people's minds to make a decent living so many artists work while ill,
RIP Ralphie May

I think some of you are forgetting that "fat is funny" with many, many comedians. And their success with those jokes proves it.
People can identify with weight issues; and there will always be some thinners in the audience who find picking on a weight issue laughable.
You cannot find him funny then turn around and say his weight isn't an issue.
Gabriel Iglesias is "fluffy" but lost 100 lbs on the advice of his doctor; diet and exercise.
A man who actually went to and listened to a doctor.
I think it's a natural reaction to look at a lifestyle as a contributing factor. We do the same when a person dies from drugs, smoking, etc. We can identify with weight, smoking, diet, etc. either ourselves or with loved ones.
I'm sorry Ralphie passed away and his family is grieving. However, somethimes such an incidient can make one look at oneself in a different light.
We can be sad he is gone and we can also be sad for any struggle he may have had.
One is not exclusive of the other.

I wasn't familiar with Ralphie May, but may he rest in peace. He was certainly too young to die.
However, some research about him shows that all is not what it seems on the surface.
