@LinaL  No one's opinion is ridiculous.  It's an opinion.

And if you would like to give away your power to another group, go for it.

Anyone can be not nice to me.  It's my choice to then engage with them or not.

Looking down on people who willingly choose to interact with a group you don't like or who you think are wrong in some way, is your opinion and their choice.

@Laura14, I so agree with everything you said.  And unless I hear in the next few weeks that he was mean spirited, mistreated his kids or was a child molester and forced himself on these women they he employed, he's ok with me.  I've never been a follower of his so maybe I missed something but I've never heard a bad thing about him except that some didn't like his lifestyle which didn't seem to hurt anybody.

@Mmsfoxxie  I never have either and even I did, I wasn't there so how would I know?

All I saw was a man who made no apologies for what he did.  Good for him.

A lot of the famous women he worked with had nothing but praise for him so I'm content to take those that actually did meet the man and work with him at their word.

Man, this is sad.

At 91 it’s really not a surprise, but he was an amazing man.

Such a visionary....a visionary in many different lights.

I have to raise my glass & say ‘Thank you, Mr. Hefner”

for allowing me, a woman coming to age in the 70’s,

to express my sexual nature on my own terms.

He definitely changed the World.

Beyond the pin-up pictures, Playboy DID offer some of the BEST interviews and articles on people, places and events. One of my favorites was the interview with Isaac Asimov ; fantastic.

I follow his son, Cooper, on Twitter.

Just amazing how he looks e.x.a.c.t.l.y. like his father.

Of course a lot of men disrespect women.  Women are beaten, raped, stalked, held prisoner, killed, etc.  There's no respect there.  There are active "men's rights" groups trying to legalize rape.  I don't know how anyone can conclude that's respect.

I am NOT saying that was Hefner, but Hefner did promote objectifying women.  Playmates were just that.  As for whether people were hurt, a lot of his parties included underage girls, and drugs were a part of the menu, like candy. You can make your own decision about the morality of that.

RIP

I remember when the playboy club was here in NY my dad and uncle took my cousin from NC there back in the 70's and they brought home the those signature aluminum mugs with the glass bottom and the bunny logo on the side that are still in the basement.

I read they were working on bringing back the playboy lounge/supper club.
