I've been watching some of the old game shows on Buzzer cable channel.  She was on the panel of To Tell The Truth.  I enjoy watching her.  A lovely lady.  May she rest in peace.

Dina Merrill was the beauty "goal" of my high school friends.  The nuns couldn't figure out why we all walked around with a piece of tape between our brows..........until someone brought in DM's book where she talked about tape between the brows "training" you not to squish those muscles so you wouldn't get the "dreaded 11's"!!!!   Of course DM used "frownies" but we were kids and just used regular ole' tape!

Thanks, DM for the memories.  I wish you and Cliff Robertson an eternity of peace.

@forest4thetrees  Just FYI - she was divorced from Cliff R. and married someone else after him.  So they won't be resting together in eternity.

Re: RIP: Dina Merril, 93

For those of you who live near Washington, D.C, Hillwood Estate (built by her mother Marjorie Merriweather Post) is a beautiful place to visit.  It is in NW Washington and if I remember correctly, near Rock Creek Park.  It is filled with beautiful treasures she collected through the years and the gardens are really beautiful.  It is worth an afternoon's visit.

Dina Merril was indeed a very beautiful and classy lady.  She had the Grace Kelly look!

That was when stars had class.  Now we live in the land of the Kardashians.  How far we have fallen!

She could play the elegant "ice princess" so well, but seemed warm and approachable in real life.  I have a vintage book on celebrities and their needlepoint, and Dina was excited about teaching her young daughter the craft.  I didn't know that she and Cliff Robertson ultimately divorced;  they seemed like such a great couple.

Another small role she was excellent in was that of one of the researchers on Katherine Hepburn's staff in the Hepburn-Tracy classic, "Desk Set".

Oh, just remembered she was one of the glamorous nurses that Cary Grant's submarine rescued in the classic war comedy, "Operation Petticoat"...

She is also in  a very good (in terms of the mystery angle) Murder She Wrote in which wonderful actress Shirley Knight plays her sister.  I keep seeing it on Hallmark Movies and Mysteries channel. She was in another one also.  This is the one I really like (even though Angela L. isn't in it and I usually don't like those - but Dina was great and so was the mystery). It's called Always a Thief.
