Oh no. I was telling my children  a few weeks ago what an amazing voice he had when he did "The Little Drummer Boy" duet with Bing Crosby that they play on Siruis a lot during the Christmas season. They had no idea he was a rock star.

There's also a story that Bing had no idea who Bowie was as well, altough I am not sure how true that really is.

I feel like I'm taking his death personally too but the out pouring of love, respect and condolences from his fans is comforting to his family and friends.  I didn't realize that he lived right here in Manhattan in the SoHo section which is downtown and the news showed the shrine of flowers, candles and pictures that are being placed at the apartment building where he and Iman reside; they said there were so many people they had to put up barricades.

I'm very at ease, and I like it. I never thought I would be such a family-oriented guy; I didn't think that was part of my makeup. But somebody said that as you get older you become the person you always should have been, and I feel that's happening to me. I'm rather surprised at who I am, because I'm actually like my dad!

Count me as one who is saddened by his death.  He was one of the few musicians whose music transceneded generations.  My dad (68yo), myself (36yo) and even my young cousins (teenagers) appreciate his music.  He was a pioneer in so many ways.  RIP

How David Bowie left his estate.  The bequests to Iman and his two children make sense.  What I found really interesting - and very kind - were his bequests to his personal assistant and his son's former nanny.  David was a nice man.
