Our area in eastern PA is officially in a drought. It hurts farmers & crops. Water use regulation could come in the future. Droughts aren't good. We really need rain.
Edited to add: The noon news just said that our area in east PA is officially at D2 - Severe Drought

We're also in a Severe Draught in Lincoln, Nebraska. We had been in a worse draught for over two years and finally got out of it due to a lot of spring rains this year. Last couple of months we've had little to no moisture.
I've been watering like a mad woman to keep my trees and shrubs healthy enough to survive the bitterly cold months. Have too much invested to let them die. They were planted to protect the house from the hard winds and hot sun in the summer months. They are necessary for the comfort inside my house!
Hope your weather improves with the rain this week. We received about 1/2 inch yesterday and expect more rain on Saturday and Sunday. We're anxiously awaiting it!!!

@Desertdi I am very lucky with him, he does try but I really wish he had said he was doing it BEFORE I tried to use the hose!!! Now we need to hook them back up so I can water everything.

@monicakm - We got rain too Not a lot but enough to make puddles - even though they were kind of small but still, they were puddles! Glad you got some rain too.
By the way, I have a neighbor who is moving to Barrie, TX probably late November. Is that near you? I should just look it up on a map. Think she said it was south of Dallas? I may not be remembering that correctly.

Thank God for rain (and cooler weather)! I don't know how much we got but my husband said it was substantial. More chances for the next few days. I think we've gone 5 months with no rain. I have a sprinkler system so at least my lawn and hedges have stayed alive and green but I could use a break in my water bill. Last month's was in the $320 range but some of that was a sprinkler valve that popped up and came on. I couldn't get it to stop, DH was at work, sprinkler guy couldn't get here. I unplugged the controller box and when that didn't work, I started cutting lines in the controller box
I finally called the water meter guy who happened to be in the area. He turned it off at the street. I just paid a $200 water bill
Ouch! Something is amiss when one's water bill exceeds one's electric bill (and you don't own a pool). Dad said that putting in a sprinkler system will come back and haunt me. Consider me haunted!

Oh no
All this extreme weather is of Biblical proportions.

Google and I have never heard of Barry, TX? I just Googled it. It's tiny. Population was 220 in 2020. It's about an 1 hr 45 mins away. Here is the PO. Cute little country church. In Navaro County south of me.

@monicakm So great to see someone who knows the correct spelling of lightning. I get so tired of seeing "lightening"!
