I got a Target card just for when I go there since it's 5% off all the time.

I only have a $1000 limit on that card...and didn't go there during that time.

I had a Target debit card which is linked to my checking account. I closed it. I don't shop there enough that 5% makes a difference and I don't want the hassle. I personally only know 1 person who had to get a new bank debit card over this fiasco. My sister shopped there but her account wasn't compromised. Who knows about her personal info. though.

I retread the E mail they sent and it makes no reference to a debit or credit card having been hacked. it simply says name, address, E mail and phone # may have been obtained. So I called them and in fact no credit or debit card info was hacked. So it is obvious that the scope of this is much larger then we have been lead to believe. If the hackers did not get my card # then how did they get my name, address phone #. Then I recalled that last spring I ordered a baby shower gift on line at Target and had it sent directly to the home of the shower hostess since I could not attend. Please note I did not set up a user ID and password at Target. I made this purchase as a guest For this one time purchase. I do not get E mails from them and yet they had . My data from this one time on line order. Target must have kept my name, address etc in their data base even though this purchase is complete and I did not know they were retaining my data and I most certainly did not give them authority to do so. What this means is that the data breach was wider then Target has revealed. Even though I did not shop there during the time Target has specified my demographic data was hacked into. This means that IF YOU EVER SHOPPED ON LINE AT TARGET your personal info could have been obtained.
