Re: Question regarding the vaccine and the homeless...

Most homeless don't have proper ID such as a current driver's license or state issued ID.

It's usually a matter of choice and sometimes it's not the $ to obtain an ID, but the lack of documentation to establish identity. Then you need a secure address to mail it to.

You also have to be a reliable health historian when completing the paperwork.

Re: Question regarding the vaccine and the homeless...

I haven't seen any numbers, if there are any, about the homeless being horribly impacted by Coronavirus?

I am not saying that they should or shouldn't get vaccinated, but have the homeless communities been overwhelmed by the virus?

It's interesting that we haven't seen much about that.

@Dusty1, I can speak only to LA County. At first, the health officials were pleasantly surprised that the low numbers. But that changed over time. I don't if we've been overwhelmed, but yes, the numbers definitely increased.

This is group is especially prone to have a serious outcome from the virus, so vaccination is key.

Re: Question regarding the vaccine and the homeless...

We've read in the news that studies in California show surprisingly low rates of COVID in their homeless population. Theories are that being in open spaces exposed to sunlight may be a possible reason.

I was wondering what was being done to help the homeless get vaccinated? Maybe someone can speak on this. I don’t know for sure, but I’m sure there are homeless people over 60 who will want this, and I hope there are programs in place to let them get the vaccine if they want it. Just some thoughts. 🙂

That's a GOOD question and by the way, if that's you in the avatar, you're a very pretty lady.  Anyway, I think it's kind of ridiculous that they, like magic have a vaccine pronto but then can't get enough out?  I just don't buy into it.  I'm like the guy in the life boat....I'll take my chances with the sharks.  Smiley Happy

They didn't "like magic have a vaccine pronto".  After the first coronavirus SARS in 2003, the H1N1, they started working on a vaccine because they knew it would return. They have been working on this for 17 years. It was the Chinese who provided the genome for COVID-19 to the world and every scientist in the world was focused on this very virus. That's how they did it so fast. And now inventory is beginning to catch up to the demand with 3 suppliers.

@77yangya   What a nice compliment! Thank you! That is me in my avatar, it’s from 2 years ago at a family dinner.

I sit and think about these kinds of things, and wonder about some that are less fortunate. I’m like @suzyQ3  and don’t understand some of the replies, but maybe they aren’t replying to me. I don’t know. 🤷🏼‍♀️  Anyway, thank you for the nice compliment! 😊♥️

@wvumountiefan, in my area we are vaccinating the homeless at homeless shelters with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
