I've been receiving for years and it always has been 25,00 and under.

You get a form to work it out and they have you 1/2 what you get from SS, then add whatever income plus you get.

When you total everything, if it is under 25,000 income, you don't have to file taxes.

So far I'm OK.

@jannabelle1. You can print out the form, complete it and mail it to your local SSA office.  We have done that and never had to go in person.

Yes, you'll get a report but it's not as small as a 1099. If you set up My Social Security count online, you'll be able to print it too.

@catter70    What was sent out was not the 1099. It was a statement of our new SS amount for 2024. It shows the deduction for Medicare and for Federal taxes. I think people are confused because it looks just like the 1099. I don't receive my 1099 until the end of January.

The 1099s have also started coming.  I got mine yesterday.
