Question on Buying Some Titles for Kindle

Amazon has a deal on Jeffrey Archer novels for $1.99 each.....I want to get all 3 for my Kindle.

I'm confused on where I want to "send" them. I have my regular Kindle...and Kindle apps on my tablet and phone. I can send it to any of the devices of the "cloud".

If I "send" it to the "cloud" (still trying to figure out what this is) will I be able to access them on every device?

TIA

Not sure, if it doesn't appear on the other devices you can 'resend' the title from your Kindle library again.

Yes, if you download to the Cloud, you should be able to then download from the Cloud to any of your devices.

You can also download directly to your Kindle and when needed, transfer from your Kindle to the Cloud by removing the title from your Kindle.

Re: Question on Buying Some Titles for Kindle

I usually send mine straight to my new Kindle and then if I am not reading it anytime soon -- shove it to the cloud, then I can get it later without cluttering up the Kindle.

Hey you, get off of my cloud...

Think of the cloud as offsite storage. If you had furniture, or other stuff, that didn't fit in your house but still wanted to keep, you may go and rent one of those u-lock-it storage things. The cloud is sort of like this. Most devices offer free cloud storage (up to so much space for free), and this is where you store your stuff that you don't want to make room for on your devices.

The cloud works both ways, you can download from the cloud to the device, or upload from the device to the cloud. You can do this as often as you like. Basically, once you own something (app, book, movie, song, etc) you own it and it sits on your cloud.

Any device you have that is linked to the same cloud has access to anything on the cloud. You could have some things download to both (or all devices), or some things on one device, but not on others, or store everything on the cloud and only download to the device for the time you are going to use it.

Hope this hasn't confused you more. Just trying to help simplify and explain the cloud concept.

Thanks lynnj.....I kind of figured....just wasn't 100% sure.

Basically off site backup?

Well yes, it is backup. I don't have a kindle so I am not exactly sure how the backups work with them. With my apple devices, when i plug them in and I am on wifi, they automatically backup (to the cloud).

But lets say you didn't do a backup yet, but bought a book. Because you purchased the book it is yours, and can always be accessed through the cloud. So you don't always need to do a backup to have access to the stuff in your cloud.

But in a way, you can think about the cloud as always having a backup of anything you have (apps, books, etc.) However, I do encourage device backups often. I am sure the kindle does this automatically like the apple stuff does, but not sure of the process.
