Re: Question for those retired

We both are not good sleepers so not on any schedule.  I go to bed after I take dogs out around 8 and fall asleep when I fall asleep and up between 5-6 when dogs wake up to go out.  Husband goes to bed when he gets sleepy usually late and sleeps til 8 or 9.

I'm not retired but I know I wouldn't want to live like that.  I don't see the point of getting up in the middle of the night for no reason and then going to bed before the evening has begun.  But if you enjoy it, that's all that matters.  I think that when I do retire, which won't be for another 10 to 12 years; my awake/sleep schedule won't change much.  It didn't change during my 2 months of medical leave.  I wake up naturally at 6:30 and go to bed between 11:-00-11:30pm.  I don't nap unless I'm not feeling well.     I wouldn't want a different schedule from my husband during our retirement years because we've had different schedules for much of our marriage (he's a registered nurse) because he has shift changes.  We look foward to spending more time together in our retirement lives.

You forgot to tell us that you are only 57.

Re: Question for those retired

I'm up usually around 7:30, no later than 8:00.  I have a dog that needs medicine, and 3 others that need outside so there is no sleeping later.

In bed at 10:00 to watch TV for 1-2 hours before going to sleep.

After working at a major Ivy League university for over 30 years, my alma mater, I retired with excellent benefits. Nevertheless, there are all too many people who have crossed the line, killing dozens of innocent people. There should never be acquiescence to horrific human tragedies.

That's exactly what I thought. What does any of that have to do with the subject of the thread? Is it a mis-post that was meant for somewhere else?

Re: Question for those retired

We usually go to bed around 11:30 or midnight. Up at 9:30 except on Sunday...which is 8:00.

Re: Question for those retired

WhenI worked, I had to be up by 5:30 but now I try and sleep in until 8:30..   I now must get at least 8 hrs sleep due to a medical condition so no late nights for me...but was never a night owl. DH is also retired and he still sleeps on and off all night....never a full night that I can remember.
