Question for Nook Color owners -- any trouble??

I purchased my nook color last year in April...may have been through hsn...lately I noticed it doesn't hold a charge. ( I use to be able to read, then use the power saver...just turning it on power safe...not turning it off. ) Anyway, it would last a couple of days with no issues. I went back to B&N and she told me that this isn't really meant to be a reader. that if I wanted it to read books, I should just get the nook - the one that is just a reader, not internet accessible. Seriously?? She said that is why the battery won't hold the charge. It always held the charge before...now, it isn't. She asked if I updated it. I told her that I noticed a few changes, assumed it updated itself. She said I had the latest one. She then said that since the update, the nook uses more "power" (can't remember her actual word) and that it won't hold the charge as long as it use to. Is anyone else having an issue with this? I purchased a new charger -- thought maybe it was that -- but no difference. Is that a kind of weird answer, that it really isn't meant to be a reader??? I have turned of wifi...that is a battery drainer...still no difference. I would say it may stay on, full time, only about an hour. I think there is something weird about this b/c one of the guys in the store told me that if I had purchased it less than a year they would replace the whole thing with the new upgraded one for no charge. Of course, it was one month after the year...Just wondering if anyone else has had any problems with this and what you are doing about it. I now read with the plug in...can't take it anywhere...I had downloaded some cute apps for my grandson but can't let him have it anymore b/c of the wire. Very disappointed.
