Re: Question for K Cup users

I don't recycle them.

For those who don't recycle k-cups or other recyclable items, not to worry: the recyclables are separated at the trash plants.

So - the OP isn't really about wanting to know how K-cup users might recycle, it's just a slam at Keurig owners in general. That was my initial impression, but thanks for confirming. Carry on.

Why would I slam a Keurig user? I just feel strong about recycling whenever possible. Sometimes products of convince tend to add more waste.

I agree Annabella - no negative opinion on my part of your original post.

Re: Question for K Cup users

Isn't there a reusable filter for K-cup coffee makers? And you can use regular ground coffee with it rather than the packaged K-cups? That's the way I'd go, if I had a personal coffee maker.

I don't think anyone's excused for generating only 100 K-cups of waste per year. If every home with a personal coffee maker did the same, it's a huge increment to the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. We owe it to future generations to do better.

Re: Question for K Cup users

You can use your own ground coffee in the My K-Cup reusable cup, and/or you can buy the reusable Ekobrew cups. Just fill, brew, empty and reuse.

Re: Question for K Cup users

100's of kcups probably doesn't equal one water bottle. There's very little plastic in one.

Nothing gets recycled here, there just isn't a recycle place/option. When there was the people who owned it just tossed everything out back together and people quit using it. No actual recycling was actually being done. That turned me into a cynic.

The carafe/vue cups are recyclable and I save those and use them for scoops and such, regular cups are great for seed starters but you only need so many of those, I'd think if you were a crafter or something you could glue the hole in the bottom and put small beads in them.

Re: Question for K Cup users

Call me bad but I had 5 kids and a husband that I took care of for many years. Then I thought recycling would be a good thing....Then one day they told me I had to leave the cap off the soda bottles, and make sure that little ring was not on the top. Wash cans cut both ends out of the cans and be sure to take the labels off and smash them. Take the tabs off soda cans and rinse and do not smash or smash depending on where they were going. Put glass here that you had washed and removed the label, cans go here, and cardboard ..........I am done...even my kids and husband washed themselves so now in my later years I use it and toss it......I feel like I have something coming to be since I never used a disposable diaper, paper towels or foam cups and plates till my later years....I am ahead I feel....

But if you really want a suggestion take the top off the k-cup mix the coffee with some potting soil and start seeds in them......

Yes, they make a reusable filter (cup) for your coffee. It is included in many of the brewers from QVC. They sell them all over also.
